Whats next, comparing whos got the biggest peepee?

ben

Funny you should ask. I don't even have a gun. I just whip out my peepee, and when the victim looks down, I punch them in the face, then help myself to their belongings while they lay there unconscious. Nothing macho about that. Now who here wants to sword fight?

Around here they photograph the individual and items scraped. But let me tell I'm in the steel business and sell my scrap primarily stainless steel and they can put in a system as complicated as a airport but scrap is a shaddy business! If a scrap yard is to stringent he will lose business!

When you have individuals pushing shopping carts up to a scale full of copper pipe and siding what do you think they are contractors? Gimmie a break

It's about the money and only the money so what happens is they give the guy less than actual value and nothing is said. The scrap yard makes out because his profit margin is greater. You'd be surprised how fast it adds up. Very seldom do scrap yards get caught .

As far as these parts that were stolen IF they can be dismantled smashed or crushed it will just be sold off. Your best action is to call ALL the scrape yards and or fax them a description and hope the one who ends up with it helps you out. Don't expect the cops to do it,they wont unless it's handed to them on a silver plater. I'm not dissing the cops they have other more important things to deal with.

It's only going to get worse.

I love all the macho gun talk about thieves and such because in reality if you look at gun laws your the one that is going to end up in jail. I also believe in protecting ones self being I own guns and also a concealed carry permit and also property but I'd love to hear what happen when you shoot someone for petty theft when your person isn't in a deadly NO WAY OUT situation.

I agree with the gun issue. I don't see reason enough to shoot someone. However, i was told by the local law enforcement that Alabama as well as several other states laws are written like the following: If someone is trespassing or in your home unlawfully you are to offer them a chance to evacuate. If you tell them they are to leave and refuse. You are then allowed by law to shoot them. BUT you aren't allowed to kill them, only a minor blow such as the foot, hand, or something of that nature. I didn't believe the officer so i asked multiple local officers and they all told me the same exact thing.

EDIT: In some states you aren't allowed to shoot to injure an invader. Your are required by law to flee your own property! And to some people who are saying " You wouldn't shoot someone over that." I have shoot at a drunk colored man in my back yard trying to tamper with my ranger. Asked him to leave he didn't pay attention. The second time i asked he looked at me laughed and walked towards me. Well in my book third strike and your out. I keep a loaded benelli hung over my french doors out of my dining room. Loaded as follows two target shot followed by two buck shot. I unloaded the first in the air. He just kept approaching my house. I then shot about 6 foot in front of him as a warning. The next was aimed at his foot before he started to flee. I called the county police and they caught him about 2 mins up the road. Come to find out he was drunk and his toxicity level was so high he almost had overdosed on cocaine. I live in the sticks and yes things like this happen around this area alot. I wouldn't ever shoot anyone unless they had been given atleast two fair chances or pulled a weapon one. I am the kind of person who doesn't just think about the individual but rather what their family would go thru from him or her being injured. So i still can't say i would honestly shoot someone.

A lot of states are like that, you cant shoot someone for being on your property, and trespassing. Interesting you can wound them in Al though lol. Alabama has now a Castle Doctrine law which is pretty new. That means you can stand your ground and if they attack you can use deadly force.

Now states like Colorado have whats to referred to "make my day" law.

Someone comes into your domain, and is committing a crime, you can use deadly force.

If your life is in danger protecting your property you can....

You are correct, but at that point you are protecting your life and not your property. Again, you can never use dealy force to protect your personal property.

Just make sure that you can articulate why you (or another person) were at risk for death or serious bodily injury and hope that the physical evidence backs up your statements. :beatdeadhorse:

Makes me love Canada. We just punch each other in the face like men till the cops show up - well for the most part anyways.

A buddy of mine is down in Pennsylvania working and he got into it with a dude in a bar who was running his mouth. When he called him outside to dance they weren't outside a min and buddy that was runnin' his mouth pulled a gun on him. FN pussy.......

But like previously posted, you never know what you would do if you caught someone stealing your stuff until your put in that position so really those that haven't had it happen to them should really just stfu!!

Some of you guys are nuts. If someone pulls a weapon on me I will do everything I can to make sure they don't get a chance to use. I'm not willing to risk weather or not they are going to use it.

Last year some thug wanted to steal some ladies car and had her at knife point. She resisted because her baby was in the car and he killed her and took the car/baby.

Maybe where you live, but that ain't true for everywhere.

Funny you mention that. Today i called my lifting buddy to see why he didn't meet me at the gym. His reply was you didn't hear.... He got jumped by four guys while he was walking out of the sports bar. They threw him down and he was kicked in the face with steel toe boots multiple times! And he is by no means a small guy! He can do double the weight i can at any exercise. He maxes at 430lbs on bench. He didn't get a single lick in. His titanium wedding band is all scratched and mildly bent supposably.

Sorry for the derail... Derail over.

Lol, it makes sense now that you tell the entire story.

EDIT: why were you drinking at a bar and carrying??????

And yes I have had a gun pulled on me and a buddy in a wal mart parking lot here in Vegas years ago. He put it right in my buddys face and started yelling. I had no gun on me at the time (I was like 18). Then he pointed it at both of us back and fourth, yelling. This was over us walking thru the parking lot and this guy came hauling past us in his car and almost him me, my buddy threw up his hands and said WTF, the guy slammed on his brakes, jumped out pulled a gun and cocked it. Went right up to my friend who is 5 foot tall. This guy was black and about 7 foot tall. When we calmed him down he got back in his car and you could see his knees sticking above the doors by the steering wheel. Scared the shit out of me.

At the time this was many years ago my business was in a very bad area some might call it the ghetto. The type of area where they'd walk up to your vehicle ask for a cig, money or if you wanted to buy drugs. Why else would a white boy be in their area for? So everyday I for my saftey use to carry daily. Sometimes I'd have to go there late at night for a alarm also. I never went there with out my gun.

Nonetheless it was a splur of the moment lets go have a few beers. Being it's also illegal to leave it in a vehicle not on private property and also in the area I was in I kept it on my person. If I knew I was going out I would have left it in the office. It's not something I do often but it happens unfortunately.

Good luck they're a lot of pistol packing Pete's here and lawyers. :D

My interpretation is very simple. If deadly Force is being used on you or your family or a third party then you have the right to use deadly force. If not good luck and I hope you have deep pockets defending yourself in the court of law because it will be YOUR burden to prove why you used deadly force.

Look at what cops go through when they discharge a fire arm! And they're COPS! Unfortunately scumbags, crooks have rights too.

Individuals should review the Castle Doctrine in their state.

CGS § 53a-19 establishes the circumstances under which a person can use physical force and deadly physical force to defend himself or someone else without being convicted for assault, manslaughter, or murder. This law does not explicitly address civil cases in which the injured person or his or her estate seeks damages caused by using force in self defense.

Under this statute, a person may use reasonable physical force on another person to defend himself, herself, or a third person from what he or she reasonably believes to be the use or imminent use of physical force. The defender may use the degree of force he or she reasonably believes is necessary to defend himself, herself, or a third person.
The law establishes special rules for using deadly force to defend one's self or another person. Specifically, the law prohibits anyone from using such force unless he or she (1) reasonably believes that the attacker is using or about to use deadly physical force or inflicting or about to inflict great bodily harm and (2) knows he or she cannot avoid the need to use deadly force by retreating. But the law specifies that a person does not have to retreat before using deadly force if he or she is in his or her dwelling or workplace.
A related statute establishes the circumstances under which someone can use force to defend his or her premises. Under this law, a person who possesses or controls property, or has a license or privilege to be in or on it, can use reasonable physical force when and to the extent he or she reasonably believes it to be necessary to stop another from trespassing or attempting to trespass in or upon it.
Just as in the case of using deadly force for self defense or a defense of another person, the law establishes special rules for using deadly force in defense of premises. Specifically, the law allows a person who possesses or controls property, or has a license or privilege to be in or on it, to use deadly physical force only:

1. to defend himself, herself, or someone else if he or she reasonably believes that the attacker is using or about to use deadly physical force or inflicting or about to inflict great bodily harm;
2. when he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to prevent the trespasser from attempting to commit arson or any violent crime; or

3. to the extent he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to stop someone from forcibly entering his or her dwelling or workplace, and for the sole purpose of stopping the intruder (CGS § 53a-20).

Generally, the “castle doctrine” provides that someone attacked in his or her home can use reasonable force, which can include deadly force, to protect his or her or another's life without any duty to retreat from the attacker. It is defined differently in different states.

The word REASONABLE has MANY definitions!

Id be willing to bet that 95% of the people who pull a gun on someone (to mug them or whatever) wouldnt actually pull the trigger. Its purely an intimidation thing. If they wanted to kill you they would have already done it, not just sit there holding you at gunpoint like john wayne. But then if you pull out your gun and "counter" them, you just upped the ante and made things get a shitload more dangerous....does that make sense?
Id bet on that also. Kinda like body builder guys you see at the bar always thinking they are the shit. Cant tell ya how many times thats not worked out in their advantage. Its the ones that dont cry "I have big nuts" that you have to worry about. Id take my chances any day getting the upper hand with a gun toting mugger if I didnt have mine with me. Once that adrenaline starts pumping your in a completely different mind frame and NOONE can say what they would do. Only thing to judge that is previous experiences with the same emotions flowing. I know what Id do judging from previous experiences but ALOT of people dont have that to go off of. Most people will choke when it really comes down to it. Ive seen it personally with many of friends. Some have it most dont. Just hope the situation never arises and you wont have to find out what the outcome is. Its purely instincts.

Mackin - Didnt they teach you in CCW (or did you have to have one?) that an unloaded/un-chambered gun in worthless? If its not chambered why carry it? If you worry about it going off then get another gun...plenty out there that you dont have to worry about. Around here we cant have loaded gun while in bar drinking. Was talk about carrying without drinking in these places but dont know what the outcome was.

I'm no lawyer or law enforcement officer, but I do know how to read. I don't know of too many ways to interpret this law.

Sec. 9.32. DEADLY FORCE IN DEFENSE OF PERSON.

(a) A person is justified in using deadly force against another:

(1) if the actor would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.31; and

(2) when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:

(A) to protect the actor against the other's use or attempted use of unlawful deadly force; or

(B) to prevent the other's imminent commission of aggravated kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated robbery.

X2, everybody acts like you will rot in prison for the rest of life if you shoot someone stealing from you, breaking in, raping your wife, etc.

And to all the arguments stating:"well he had a gun to my face, if I would have reached for mine he would have shot me". Well guess what, you were to slow..... If someone is in my house or shop, my pistol is already out. That doesn't mean I'm going to shoot some meth head stealing scrap from me, what it does mean is: my weapon is drawn and targeted in, so his next actions determine what happens from that point on.
