No pics yet as the work hasn't started, but ill be sure to take plenty next weekend.

I'v been chasing an issue that started (or at least showing symptoms two days ago). Long story short, 2 days ago my LLY started in the morning and acted hydro locked. It was smoking white real bad. I let it warm up and it smoked white the entire time. After driving up the road, it finally cleared. When I got to my destination I checked under the hood and found my upper hose was way harder than it should have been. So I drove home with the cap loose after I relieved pressure and lost a little coolant. I drove it for about 10 minutes last night and got the hose hard and went out this morning and sure enough, it was still rock hard. I went into work this morning and had to do some welding. After I got done, i pulled both thermostats out and started it up and had air coming out of the pipe from the driver side head. So now iv confirmed the HG is bad. I put it back together and going to keep an eye on everything and limp it until next weekend for teardown. Done a ton of head jobs on them and soooo many fords. So I'm gonna try pulling the cab on it. Hopefully I can have it apart pretty quick.

While its apart, I'm going to make a set of HD 2" up pipes for it, install a race plug, reroute some fuel lines, and go back together with ARP studs and victor gaskets. I will have pics up next weekend during teardown and show what I find.

I definitely wasn't expecting to do this and its delaying me from getting the trans done. But oh well all worth it in the end I guess. I wanted to do an s366 to so prepping it for that. My gf even asked why I was down. I said because I don't want to do this job on my own truck as it doesn't pay anything lol. I guess I'm in depression from compression. LOL

Yours were easy fixes though. They took what 2 hours? We fixed one for free, and one is gonna cost $5k+.

This is just gods way of paying you back for raping the blue truck like u did and never having issues. hahahahaha.
Haha this is true, I have absolutely abused the blue truck. That poor thing owes me nothing.

You a mechanic? Nothing worse than being forced to work on your own stuff after working on vehicles all day! Ive been there, and had to pull it right back apart because I had a valve not seating 0_0.

I get bummed out when I can't mod my rigs in the time frame Id like to...

I was pretty bummed that between life and my truck, I couldn't build my engine and wound up with another stock one.
:(

But I, like Mike, really enjoy pulling parts off and replacing them, turning wrenches is fun for me if even for a repair. But I don't do (mechanic) this for a living.

I haven't gotten to do anything worth reporting in a while...
I have replaced all my lighting on the D-max and TBSS with LED's inside and out, that was cool...

I do have a pile of parts waiting for the SS, but I'm still waiting for a couple more to make the next transition.

Don't get depressed man!
There's an experience to be had here, and for better or worse, ITS YOURS!!!
It's knowledge waiting to be had, it's a lesson learned and it's time spent on something that brings us/you allot of good times and smiles. It's an opportunity to say "hey, I've been there and done that" it's an opportunity to better what you've got

Things could be worse, fer sure

Working on stuff never ends. The night after I finished my wife's TBSS I lost my motor. Now she is driving around in a nasty truck while I drive a 96 cutlas cierra AKA the Chick Magnet. Lol

I quit turning wrenches professionally, or at least in a shop setting for customers anyway. The last thing I ever wanted to do was work on my own truck or for friends/family after a long day of working on stuff for customers who didn't appreciate the work done. Now I work on ski lifts, behind the scenes where customers don't know I'm there, just where I've been.

I wish I could do the same. Recent investment was a tig welder so I may try to switch professions next year and wipe my hands clean and only do side work from here out.
