Does anybody actually read anymore
Apparently not. This whole thread definitely makes me feel a little better about some of the issues I've been having with my truck. Nothing major, just minor annoyances. I'm eager to find out how this problem concludes!

I don't understand why the OP didn't just fix what was wrong with the original motor...I thought I read somewhere about head gaskets.

Exactly, unless he ruined the block I don't see why he would be going through this mess looking for another engine

If this is referring to me, I most definitely read it all and still annoyed....

Just everyone giving him a hard time after it was resolved.

The guy was frustrated and was a dick. He realized it and everyone went their way. He’s asking for help identifying the engine.

Hey guys, it's ok. I admit I jumped the gun based on his tone and username (thought he was trolling us). He's frustrated. I don't blame him.
I appreciate you all having my back, but it's all water under the bridge now. I just hope he's able to resolve the transaction.
IMO, that engine doesn't look like it's been run in a good long time. Oil the cylinders you can and retry the compression test. 180/200 is low.

We are done beating a dead horse guys, just as Anthony stated, dude came back and manned up where he was wrong.

I frankly don’t see the point in this thread but we will let it run. If the shop was going to give back his money or make the engine right, it would have happen at this point. Only thing left is to go to court. Doing a compression test and any other work or dismantling is not going to help the court case any more than the pics he had prior.

OP, good luck.

Get the VIN off of the motor, as had been said. We'll run through GM's system, we can tell what milage was on the donor truck, the last time it was in a GM shop.

As I was typing the last post, I got an email from FL company. They gave me only the last 8 of the VIN....

2F137009

I am not VIN savvy, but is this information useful at all in helping me pull information on this truck? A quick lookup only tells me that it came from a 2002 truck.

Truck was old new out of Biloxi MS From Dees Chevy Olds in 10/18/2001, as far as the GM history tells, it lived most of its life in North Carolina, but it didn't log a visit to a GM dealership after 2005. That was at
COLLINS CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CADILLAC

MOUNT AIRY NC 27030-5396
The truck had 27,609 miles on it then. Very odd for an LB7 to not be back in for injectors under the GM special policy, but not implausible.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thats IF this is the actual vin of the truck it came out of....at this point I've been lied to so much, who knows what truths are being told.

This truck does jive with the build sheet, but as you said, who knows if they came you the actual VIN?

Anyone else annoyed by this post.... dude buys junk yard engine without seeing it in person, than join’s DD forum and wants help and acts like Jerk and that we owe him something.. Maybe should have joined forum first and asked for advice....

Just my :2cents:

I don't know why he's trying to give the company a chance to make it right. If they ****ed you in the beginning they will **** you in the end. Call your bank, file a chargeback, problem solved.

I somehow missed all the updates since my last post. Sorry I have been absent from replying.

Here is where I am at....

They have agreed to give me a full refund, but I have to ship it back on my dime. I called UPS freight and over the phone they quoted me $5,135 (holy shit!) ...she then explained it was probably shipped to me with a highly discounted rate from a ups freight account. I have a regular UPS account I ship stuff from my business and I logged in and was able to get a quote of $1,284 (still stupidly high)

So next option is to go to my local diesel mechanic and have him give me a quote to remove the heads and remove the stuck glow plugs and repair the glow plug ports, then pass this onto the FL company to see if they will finally be convinced its junk and not worth repairing.

Their argument about the low compression test is a cold cranking compression test is not a valid test and will run low. Obviously this is a bullshit cop out on their part.

Since they still wont give me the full vin (I know it was provided above, but they wont give it directly to me) ...I have a feeling that it's not the actual vin.

I see everyone here demanding I charge it back on my credit card through my bank. I have called my bank and have 60 days to dispute it. I see this has a last resort because it will just delay the resolution of this transaction holding my money up in the bank. I have a few other things I'd like to try before going that route.

The reason I did not fix my original motor is because I melted the head and blew the head gaskets. I had the head repaired and replaced the head gaskets. After putting it all back together it still ran like shit and had no boost. I did a compression test and had numbers all over the place from 150 to 300. Also there was coolant in the cylinder again of where I had the head gasket failure. I am not sure about the extent of the damage done when this head gasket failed. It's possible I cracked the block in the process too. I do not plan on owning this truck for much longer so investing into a complete rebuild was not logical. Attached is a before/after image of the head that I melted and the repair that was done.

Can you explain?

Are you saying that the build sheet for the VIN doesn't match what you are seeing in the pictures of the engine I have posted? If so, what are you seeing that could help my case they have given me a different vin?

No, what I was saying was that the picture of the truck you showed, the one that was hit in the front? That photo was consistent with the build sheet for the truck you listed the last eight digits VIN.

This VIN;
https://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1149435&postcount=56

And this truck;
https://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1149457&postcount=67

Coincide with one another.

The build sheet for the VIN you supplied in post 56 of this thread, is consistent with the picture of the truck you posted in post 67 of this thread.

Ok, so if the engine is from an 02 and you asked for an 04 wouldn't that be enough for them to have to take it back? As we know there are a number of differences between them

I know its not that much to swap over all the the parts to make it work with an 04 but with the rusted bolts it may not be possible
