This is why my next turbo from Fleece (which is almost done) will have a whole front end from a GT4202 - compressor wheel and housing and all. I don't want something that is machined to fit, I want something that is made and engineered to fit each other.

I wish and hope that Garrett continues to make bigger AVNT chargers and gets away from "stock appearing". I would love to see a variable GT42 straight from Garrett. I am also very interested in how the variable 4094 is going to stack up to the 68 and 71.5mm turbos from Danville and Fleece.

The reason for the "stock appearing" is for the stock classes - otherwise what really defines stock?.... no tuner, exhaust, cold air box, etc.

I agree there needs to be bigger AVNT turbos made,...... just not to say they are stock appearing. I think the limits of that has been reached in the stock housings.

i doubt garrett cares much about stock apearing probably just trying to save a buck and use there current center section/cartrige and swap wheels and covers . and offer a product that bolts directly in place for there custommers . i will also be curious how big they go with vnt i dont know if they will with there current selection of larger turbo's that would fill the void .

There are bigger VNT turbos made but the vane actuation control and method is different. You would need to come up with some trick electronics to control it using the input from the Duramax. Most use air pressure to actuate the vanes so you would also need to install on board air.

I would venture to guess that the AVNT 40-94 will perform right there with the other 68mm variables and will full effort should be able to make over 600hp.

I have also changed directions in my build and will no longer be testing out the variable GT4202 that Fleece is building. I'm going with something a little bigger and not variable.

I just had the Cheetah 68 installed, and I am quite pleased with the results. And, I am still running the PPE Xcelerator (+160 tune). Seems to spool up at least as well, if not better than stock and provides a lot more top end. The whine takes a little getting used to, but I must say I am pretty happy. Now just got to get a good EFI tune...

Haha... The thread is a little over a year old. But always good to hear some feedback. I am in the middle of ripping my motor outta my truck. It's gonna sit in my garage for a while then i am sending it off to be built and when it goes back in it is going to have the 71mm htt and a set of dual fuelers and 100 overs temporarily....
