if i am not mistaken trent the 71.5 wheel is the same as a Ak5. i would think that at the 725 +/- that the 71.5 is probably at the end of its map. that why i will have a bigger one :D

the turbine wheel greatly effects the maps as well . thats when this subject goes way over my head :D i can read an existing map but wouldnt have a clue as to how changes effect making of a new map .

I know the 37's have been out for about 3 or 4 months but I think the 40 has only been out for a month or so.

I could understand the disappointment with the 37's as they were doing the same thing as everyone could with a CNC machine. They were machining out the compressor housing to fit the 4094 comp. wheel and leaving the turbine housing stock. You can't push more air in and expect more air to come out with out more heat and pressure.

I think the 4094avnt is the ticket. We'll see. It still has a small AR but I don't think you can get around this with a stock appearing vn housing and still have a reliable housing.

On a side note: if a cheetah is stock appearing then that means in needs to be a garrett turbo right? So with that said.............

Is a cheetah 64 a 4088
Is a cheetah 68 a 4094
Is a cheetah 71.5 a 4294?????

Just curious

kevin,
brayden and dan for that matter are not just buying 4094 wheels or 4088 wheels. or what ever the corresponding wheel for the size and putting them in the turbo. they are using custom wheels. with completely different blade designs. so while the rules state stock appearing. if they cant see parts in side then you can put what ever you want inside the turbo as long as when they tech the turbo it appears stock

I understand the factory housing part. Let me refrase the question:

Is a cheetah 64 a 2.5 inducer, if so what is the AR and trim
Is a cheetah 68 a 2.7 inducer, if so what is the AR and trim
Is a cheetah 71.5 a 2.8 inducer, if so what is the AR and trim

And I don't think Dan is making them...... I think he just bought them ALL from garrett.:D And at not a bad price I may add.

well while i cant speak for dan because i havent actually seen his turbo's. i do know that they do buy their wheels from garrett but they are not the same wheels that garrett is using in their turbos. i think the 68mm is 2.6 but i am not 100% sure. i think you are correct on the rest of the sizes

I'll be courious on how this turbo performs in real applications. Let me ask you guys this. Just machining out the housing and stuffing a bigger wheel in there how hot is the air comming out of these turbos compared to one with a simular wheel but with the engineered housing it was designed for?

well i can tell you that i have lower egt's compared to the same tune with stock turbo. we did a comparison when we did my install to see what kind of egt drop i would get. i saw about a 200* to 300* drop

When I installed my 8" turbo back exhaust I noticed a similar drop in EGTs'.

This is why my next turbo from Fleece (which is almost done) will have a whole front end from a GT4202 - compressor wheel and housing and all. I don't want something that is machined to fit, I want something that is made and engineered to fit each other.

I wish and hope that Garrett continues to make bigger AVNT chargers and gets away from "stock appearing". I would love to see a variable GT42 straight from Garrett. I am also very interested in how the variable 4094 is going to stack up to the 68 and 71.5mm turbos from Danville and Fleece.

Thats cool your going the route your taking and will be courious to see what you end up running as far as times and mph since that will show your power.
