How much pulsewidth do you run.. I would say that it's directly related. Wouldn't you think that if you could get the fuel in in half the time it wouldn't be spraying the crowns and melting pistons?

i would have to think if you can get the fuel into the bowl where it was designed to be that this would help stop piston melting and rod bending. so if you can run bigger injectors which lets you get same amount of fuel sooner. then you dont need to run the amount of timing that you where. i would have to think the closer to a stock timing table you can get the better. plus not as much stess on the rods

Anywhere from 2200 to 3500 depending.

X amount of fuel releases X amount of heat if burned completely.

Bigger dropletts burn slower and less completely.

Smoke is pretty, but I'm not convinced it's the answer to power.

This is off topic "and a mod can delete if wanted", but considering how many trans 2 certain LLY's have been thru with Cheetah's, I wonder what their rods look like

This thread is an all in one, we start off with which turbo is better then move onto how to read a dyno graph, then slide on over to tuning technics and last but not least, are injectors needed. I love it. :D I say we rename this thread "Lets argue, all in one" But please continue. This thread has a ton of tech info. And has superbowl results also.

But this thread is comparing HTT against the Fleece charger. I will see if I can locate the graphs for the HTT Monday. I've never tested the Fleece charger, perhaps I will sometime in the future. The data I have is for the "old" version of the HTT from over 2 years ago, before the improved turbine housing. I still believe it's an 11 second tow-worthy charger with good reliability ratings from those who have run them. Perhaps the most under-rated charger for our trucks. It was the first charger to run an 11 on fuel-only, back when the A5000 was the king of the hill.

I never "endorse" any product that I don't have confidence in. It's rare to see anyone who has followed my recommendations and hasn't been impressed with the outcome. This dates back to 2004 when I first started reporting on Dmax hotrod goodies. I'm not willing to sacrifice that rep for a quick buck. I seldom sell HTT chargers. You can buy them cheaper elsewhere. But the label on the box has never changed my testing results of it's contents.

i might be way off here and this is being brought up 10 pages in  but isnt it not a fair comparison i meen variable vain vs wastgated plain turbo ? i know its what the poster was debating but i think they would each have there nitch, and i do agree with pat that the htt is a very under rated turbo that can run quick time and still great for guys that tow and its one of the cheapest chargers availible for the dmax , on a side note i installed one of braydens 64mm cheatahs on a guys lly as a side job and i was impressed , sounded great , and the owner was happy with the performance, and spooling carictoristics . i think the guy should be thinking do i want a vvt or a non vvt , instead of is a apple sweeter than a ornge . and i think if another vendor wants to question validity of a product that a public forum is not the place untill you have concrete proof of the conclusion . just my opinion take it for what its worth .

I have experience with the HTT's.. we deal them... And we build plenty of S300's in all variations. I don't think it's a bad turbo..

The thread really derailed when Dan @ PPE started his normal routine.

I love this thread, there is actually more info in it than a lot of tech threads...

And seems many are professional about it and instead of name calling, facts and theories are being backed up.

Who cares how off topic it goes, its still a good tech thread...

and continue :D

I know this much. The SS housing on the HTT is night and day difference compared to the cast iron housing.

You're correct... The BW cast housing has the turbine set too deep and it doesn't spool as well. That was one of the major reasons for it's design. The stainless is pretty much icing on the cake.

So Cal.
So... If those are the logs from the dyno run, then why is this the VSS (vehical speed sensor) only reading 6mph?

Because EFILive's VSS doesn't read correctly if you pick the Duramax Imperial LBZ pid on the beta version that I was using.

If you took the time to look at the other paramters in the log like RPM, and fuel rate I wouldn't have to be explaining this to you. You would be able to tell you can't have 110mm3 of fuel quantity @ 6mph and 3100 rpms. Let alone MAF Rate is pegged.. pretty hard to do @ 6mph as well.

You're just looking for things to catch me on, and you're going to have to get up earlier...

Sorry to everybody else for the attitude but it's getting pretty old.

dan i would have to say that it has something to turbobrake as it hooks in to the vss spot on the tcm connector. but i dont know for sure that is totally just a guess
