Heres the thing. Dyno numbers don't mean shit unless each truck is there the same day same conditions and operated the same way on the dyno to even compare numbers and baselines need to be set that same day. Yeah pullers don't always run down the strip but lets put it this way. Seems anymore the stock turbos are running mid 12's @ 105-108 mph. Look at the turbo you want and see what numbers it's putting down at the track. I want the best power curve not the most peak power. If you don't run the number supported by the dyno numbers but want to talk about peak power than find a Cummins guy to do that with as they make big power and most are turds. If you want or need a stock appearing turbo than your answer will be cheetha or danville. If you don't care about stock looks than get the best bang for the your buck if there is a deal out there. Most important make sure the person tunning it gets it right so someone with less mods dosen't beat you!! For the money the htt seems like the obvious choice but what do I know I run a stocker.:)

Power is always good, I would like to have something that will last too..... I dont know much about the cheetah, are they holding up well? I know the HTT can take a beating.

I also found a used gt4094 with install kit for around 2100. Decisions Decisions. Which turbo will spool faster the HTT or gt4094? Does the SS housing on the HTT do anything for performance or is it just for looks?

Im leaning more towards the HTT since its cheaper and already too much turbo for stock fuel system and stock motor. I do like the fact that the gt4094 is BB and water cooled. I also want to be able to sled pull in a 2.6 or less class and the gt4094 is a 2.7x inducer

It has a 2.654 inducer and I recall someont saying that it is legal with a bushing? I have never sled pulled so I dont know all the rules. Anybody know?

Out in your area sled pulling isn't exactly the hottest thing so I would say you would be okay. But, the only person who can answer if you will be legal or not is the guy who writes the rules at the organization whom you decide to pull with. Some places out this way or further east go as far to say bushings are not allowed.

So, find out what you have to work with as far as rules go and purchase then. Then again, if you don't care about winning then buy whatever turbo you want and if you have to run with the larger turbo class, so be it. In the end it should be about fun.

So Cal.
If you are going to have to sleeve the HTT I would get the 40/94 and sleeve that, then you will some more grow room in the future.

Its not for looks at all!! the housing will still get some rust!

It is for performance, the SS HTT I have spools way faster than my stock turbo ever did. The SS housing made a huge difference compared to the regular cast iron housing as well.

EDIT; Sorry trent quoted the wrong thing:eek: I meant to quote blue's post.

A cover? The SS is on the turbine side. Stainless steel doesnt absorb heat as fast as cast iron, so the heat stays in the exhaust which equals faster spool up.

The 4094 is a great turbo. If you worried about spool up and difference in the SS housing on the HTT you can get the housing on a 4094 coated and you have all your concerns takin care of.

For the 2.6 Guys........ How does a 2.6 based off of a GT42 sound????

That HTT that WolfLLY had is no longer for sale. The only reason I was gonna get a bigger turbo is because it was such a good deal. Im afraid that If I get that 4094 my motor wont last very long before it goes boom. What do you all think?

I had around 31,000 hard miles on my motor before I cracked a piston, I also ran alot of the bottle on the stock turbo dont think that helped the pistons any.O know were theres a 4094 kit for sale at lol.
