I'm looking for a few more ponies out of the old lb7 rocket without having to build my motor. I was milling over a few ideas about how to get hp while limiting stress on internal components. My three idea's I stole are: :)

Electric fans, After market intercooler (pry a techni cooler), Headers and up pipes, and maybe porting and polishing my BD Pedistal.

What has worked best for you guys, Any other ideas, and what will be the most bang for the buck?

Thanks for the info!

Do you have a stock turbo? If so porting the turbo inlet that bolts onto the turbo helps with spooling. Headers ans uppipes help also. Not a lot of cheap HP gains. Nitrous would be the cheapest HP gain.

I have a S364. Nitrous would be cheating in the classes I run in. :) I run in single, modified. I only do dyno's and the occasional drag race. (closest track is 170+ miles away) Not really looking for cheap either. I know you have to pay to play. I just want to get the most out of what i'm doing now.

List everything you have done, will help figuring out what is best

25lpm injectors, s364 bd turbo, 4" straight exhaust, lift pump, lml drivers manifold, banks intake....And Rob's tuning. I think that's it for motor upgrades.

Do you have future plans for a motor build?

Only if a wad of cash falls in my lap or I break something so I can tell my wife "I HAVE to build it." :D If I build it, i want to do it right, and right now I don't have the benjamins for that.

So you drag the most? If so whats you 60? If not what are you after?

Is the 13.1 @ 103 current?

I like dragging the most, but the track is so far away that i don't get to hit it that often. Yeah, those are my most current numbers just because i haven't been to the track for about a year. I ran that time then dynoed 540hp on edge's dyno the next day. I've gained about 100hp since. I dyno the most, cuz everyone around here has dyno comps all the time. I've done a ton of work on tuning, suspension, and weightloss since my last run. I'm expecting to run mid to low 12's with my current setup, but probably won't be able to make it to the track till october for "weekend on the edge." Oh, almost forgot, 60' was a measley 1.8x I have a straight centerlink and tie rod sleeves now too, with nitto 420's instead of toyo mt's. That should def help my 60' time!

Have you put any thought into sending your heads over to socal to have them work their magic, maybe a cam? Thats starting to creep more toward building the engine realm, but not really, technically.
Everything you listed, porting the turbo inlet and clipping the exhaust wheel to reiterate what more educated members have suggested, gonna look into those myself
good info good thread.

Doesnt mean its has not been done, or you dont know already
I did not see mention of headstuds, they are pretty important if you try to push your stock block past 35 psi or so, to be safe to your head gasket and head etc.

I honestly don't think the intercooler will gain much if any power, but it wont hurt (i have a banks IC). The manifolds and up pipes will likely gain some on. Not sure on the pedistal. Electric fans help the big end more then anything(have them too). All the little atuff adds up.

Yeah, headstuds are for pussies. I only hit 38-40 max psi on the street. (did alot of research on the supermax's efficiency ranges.) The cam idea I like, but don't know if that would add or relieve stress on rods. :D I figure my headgaskets will hold about to the bending point of my rods, so I cheaped out on those. (hell dmitri's dd ran 783 the other day and he is stock headware and motor, and he's ran with it like that for over a year now. I think tuning has come a long way in the last couple of years.)

I like the headporting idea too, and if I pull them off I can be a ***** like the rest of you and throw on some headstuds. :D But at the same time with both those ideas, i would be better off waitng, then i would only have to get the heads worked over once when/if i build it.

I would do all you have listed, could clip the exhaust wheel to make it spool faster also

I've heard clipping the exhaust and going down to a 62mm billet wheel on these supermaxes is awesome. Sounds kinda counter productive, but i guess they balance out better and are unreal in a 362/483 compound setup. The 62/clipped would only run me about $500, but i think I would have to end up twinning it, and the compound classes are to damn hard to compete in.

Stock valve springs are good for around 57 psi, but if you have the heads off already might as well. Have you thought of upgrading your charger?

Yeah, I know going to a t-4 housed turbo such as a 464 or s366 would net me more hp on the top end, i don't think it would show up well on a dyno, just because of the spool-up factor. My t-3 does wind up pretty fast for most dyno's. Plus, a bigger or upgraded charger that flows more air, is going to add more stress to my "already on the edge" rods. At the track, I know i would see lower egt's and a better trap and e/t, but where I mainly compete on dyno's (read other posts for reasons) I don't think a bigger charger will help in my situation.
