I know most trucks built guys are usually shooting for much higher HP goals than 700-750 HP , our latest build was to build a truck for my Dad due to his truck loosing a piston , the reason we chose this HP level is that is were I felt we could have the truck be as reliable as possible while still being fun , wondering how many others have builds like this going on ? I really feel it is a good level to stop at for people who rely on there trucks and drive them daily .
This is what we chose parts wise to achieve our goal of 750 HP with zero loss of function and best reliability possible .
We needed something over built mostly because my Dad isn't easy on stuff , he tows very heavy and like to have plenty of power on tap .
Truck
2004 Crew Cab long bed Dually , 6" lift with 285/75R16 tire and Rockstar wheels .
Engine
.020 over Mahle performance pistons 16:5-1
Howards rods
Mild Stage 1 cam from Randy's Engine
head and main studs
key ways
new oil pump with pined gear
rebuilt cylinder heads with aftermarket springs .
and of course all the new bearings and rings as part of the rebuild
Fuel
120% stroker pump , 45 % over injectors and a FASS 150
Air
This was the a key ingredient to the reliability IMOP because most new bee's to this sport will beat a truck alot harder the most of us and will hold a truck at WOT with out any fear or understanding how long is safe to be at high EGT's , both towing and racing. So we gave it 1000 hp worth of air to keep egt's in check under any scenario and went the Triple Turbo route to not loose any drive ability compared to the stock turbo twin kit he was running before . So far with a 2500 usec race tune the truck stays under 1400 deg at my elevation , and on the tow tune ( 500 rwhp ) it wont go over 1200 deg while towing a heavy load .
Transmission
The trans wasn't to hard a GMAX kit from Suncoast , 1056 converter and some extra hydrolic tweaks and she was ready to roll .
here's a few pics of the truck it isn't as blinged out as others we have done but he was on a tight budget , I'm still trying to find the pic of it heading home, the maiden voyage he towed a 27ft 5ther with a 22ft flat bed trailer behind it from my place in SLC to St George Utah were he lives .
