Its really not "how high", its for "how long".

Im sure a stock engine would survive/live to make a couple runs at 1000hp+. But then probably blow up on the 3rd or 4th run....

The crazy thing is our motors are built soooooo much heavier duty than a gasser but there are a bunch of 5.3 ls motors living at 1000-1200hp and our barely live at 600hp. I guess that really proves that Torque is what destroys a motor:mad:

I think there has been a few in the 700-800 range but didn't live very long at those levels.:(

Correct. When there REALLY running at that level they last a sort time. At about 850-875hp or so from what I've seen at the track, they blow parts right away in most cases. One I saw made one good run and the next run it was KABLUWEE. And we were picking up parts.

Put our crank next a to a big block chevy crank. You will be un-pleasantly surprised :D

Never really seen a big block up close only small blocks. Is a BBC Crank bigger than ours? What i was getting at is i know the parts in a dmax are way bigger than that of a 5.3 ls and they are standing upto 1200hp but not much torque being put out

Well you would think a diesel would have a bigger crank than a gasser right? Our cranks are smaller compared to a bbc but bigger than a sbc. Torque is the killer but our inner parts are no where near as beefy as i once thought

Yes James i assumed our cranks would be bigger than a BBC i never thought about it that way really i just always thought dmax internals were way beefier than a sbc and never really compared them to a bbc.

so any numbers come on i no mark is at 765 on stock lbz the c10 dmax is at 760 lly stock any lb7 numbers or lmm

I hit 815 hp ( trap speed / weight ) on stock LB7 and close to 50 or so pass's at 700 ish , bent a rod just after the 815 pass ( 11.0 @ 124 ) . I think weight of truck is extremely relevant to the topic , my weight at the time was between 6400 -6300 lbs .
