Help with the truck that no one can tune

The truck has been getting tuned on for a few weeks and to date all that I have heard is what Tony told me months ago, that the files have been sent to Ross at EFI and the ball is in their court.

The whole intent of my thread from day one was to attempt to bring the problem to light with EFI live and at try to get some of their attention away from the cummins long enough to help resolve the problem on a select number of these trucks.

For everyone's benefit, Ross is aware of the reported issue and has sent additional parameters for testing earlier this month and dialog continues with the tuners we are working with. Unfortunately those parameters didn't deliver any noticeable change. It's misleading to suggest we've done nothing.

If the problem is EFILive's, it would be easy to suggest that you use another product. But that's not going to solve your issue either. The issue is the unique combination of parts and tuning has pushed the envelope too far and we are in that period of adjustment where to make particular parts work, other parts require further enhancement.

At the end of the day the parts combination you and a couple of other trucks have is guinea pig material, if you don't like that, or don't want to be part of the 'evolution' process, then you need to change your parts in consultation with your builder to get a 'known' outcome.

Cheers
Cindy

The data log he sent me was skewed and messed up... A few things read right... Not sure if the MAF was or not, but it is 118 grams/sec at idle which is out of range! I'd like to see a good data log of it. Being it does it at idle I'm near 100% the MAF is bad.. But it doesn't do it with the OS he has so I'm going to rewrite on top of his (likely masking a issue). I have harbins OS on about 10 trucks with no MAF issues....well see tomorrow.

You think the maf could be bad? It doesn't go into reduced engine power on my old O.S
I've seen a couple that were bad. Have you put your stock tune back in after it started doing this to make sure it is something in the tune?

I could always swap parts out of my dads truck to see if things are bad:D
Anybody have PC anywhere to try and help me log it?

I didn't know it had this problem until Kory sent me a tune with a different O.S but it does still throw it on any other tune than what I'm currently running. And I don't know why.

We change MAF sensors left and right at the shop...I think 49 grams/sec is the tolerance before coding. A proper data log from yours will tell the story I'm sure.

If anyone wants to test something interesting... You can have the key on, unplug the MAF and just plug it back in... The ECM actually codes instantly but does not throw a CEL... Hence how sensitive they are!

At least you guys aren't still claiming there is no issue, but there are trucks that are basically stock with the only motor mod being the VVT charger that have the same issue, so to say mine is completely a result of the full build on my truck might not be completely accurate.

Either way, 2 months ago this was all imaginary but after pissing off a few people there seems to be a general consensus that there is an underlying issue with certain ECMs and EFI is at least working towards a resloution.

For that I am thankful.

Dan, you cant back up anything you claim.

Money does not buy patience or class. O/P should be thanking people for going out of their way to help. But then, most people would have just moved on to a different charger that would have bypassed the issue instead of being pigheaded and stubborn.

So Cal.
The tuning issue is not mine alone as you can see.

To know the extent of my fustration with the 4094/LMM issue, I went out and bought a LMM. We have 4094's here and I have been testing with my Tech II and the LMM. I'm 99.9% sure I found the problem. I had a customer test on his 4094 truck today and it worked perfectly. I'll test another customers 4094 truck and see if results are similar. Then for confirmation, I'm going to install the 4094 on my personal truck and go through it all.

I'm glad this tuning customer showed his spots and that I refunded when I did.

Unbelievable! You cant even thank someone without insulting them, what a dick!

You know what will make this bitter sweet? Once Rob fixes the issue, he does not offer the tuning to this douchebag.....:thumb:

Like I said a little respect goes a long way

I agree, for the most part everyone here is very respectful of each other and myself and some other that I know have gotten a lot of great info here from a bunch of good guys, if your a douche plan on being treated as such!!! Not everything is black and white especially with a turbo that was never intended to run on that truck, I can see your frustration but being an ass will get you nowhere, Rob, Tony, and Kory are great guys and great tuners, giving any of them shit won't help your case at all. Hope you get it figured it out bud. :thumb: Good luck
