It's an American Eagle 3 axis. I don't have pics but I have a youtube video of the same unit running Mach 3... It has an Anilam 1400 control on it currently..

Sorry for the off topic.

Well what did you get?

:nopic:

Back on topic.

To elaborate (sp?) on what Jerod said about headers.

What do think about a log style manifold instead of a individual tube style header. Why I ask is I have seen under the hood of a P-pumped PSD pulling truck (Double Overtime) that used log style headers. A

Selling headers for a d-max right now is easy. The market it there but the supply is not, a monkey could build them and there are several people out there that would buy them. I personaly have no desire (and have not for several months) to build them for people. If I did I would have quit my job long ago. I have more important things in my life right now like starting a family, and dont need something like this taking time away from me spending with my fiancee. To anyone making, buying, or running headers, I wish you the best of luck. :D

im kind of amazed that anyone tried to use the cheap flex at all...everytime i have ever seen someone weld on it, seems like the welds are much harder than the flex and the vibration tears the flex pipe right around the weld in no time.

If you like buying headers wrap them. They just cook the tube and turn it into pig iron. There are far better thermal bariers on the market that do a better job and will not ruin the material. Look at HPCs e3 series coating. We've used it quite a bit. It's a molten porcelin spray That they originally developed for the aerospace industry.

Turbo buik6, monkeys have a hard time setting up manderall benders and heli-arc welding. We tried a few and had to let 'em go.

Coatings are fine if the header never has to be repaired. If it needs to be welded, the coating needs to be removed in that area and there is no way to clean the inside unless you cut it apart, and i have yet to find a coating co. that will warantee their coating on a header that has been run. Not to mention, who eats the cost of recoating? Not really fair if the header builder just fixes the leak and you get stuck with the recoating bill that was caused by their flaw

Actually, is was not cheap and it has held up to all but 2 people so far. Pretty good odds. Even still I won't sell another set with it. ;)

Thanks
That is what I have heard in the past.
I'm not real happy with how the coating is holding up right now so I will look into HPC.

It does suck but since we didnt deal with each other to begin with and the middle man... well we wont go there. I'm not positive on this but I think the middle man is the one that had them coated. Rick would know.

Rick, do you have any recommendations for coating?

thats good. just all of the stuff ive seen on the big trucks and stuff you cant weld on it or itll let go pretty quick. you must have some serious patience to weld on that stuff! cool that youre trying to improve on the design constantly. it will probably yield a great end product :thumb:

Customer goes after middleman and then middleman goes after header builder. Chain of command:D

I've been building race cars and/or related parts professionally since 1986. Because of the same reasons in turbo's post 106 I never really liked coating either. Even when it wasn't a "flaw" by the builder getting something recoated was like pulling teeth. And no, I did not have them coated.

I also agree with Jerod on the wrap. I've found nothing in between. :( My personal stuff is not coated.

Turbo, how many more subtle shots you gonna throw? Seems a little one sided here.

It's not called E3 any more. It's "HYPERCOAT EXTREME". They have some graphs at the bottom of the page that compare bare to coated header tubes. Our own testing has shown about the same improvements. We will soon have some headers going to a cup car team in NC to get flogged on the dyno with this coating. Those guys are hard on stuff. They'll pull those motors from 3000 rpm to 8500 rpm. They do this for hours and back and forth to test longevity stuff. You're just waiting for one to let go.

There are NO subtle shots here, you can ask any of the diehard guys on this site that this is all stuff I have been saying long befor i even knew you existed. (it was not my idea to make these, i was asked to do so based of my history) I personally recomended that none of the first few people to get headers from me get them coated since i was worried about cracking. I didnt plan on running mine as long as i have befor making any more, but i now feel confident that there is no probs with them.

RickDLance;65179 I know it's happened to several even on the factory bellows and that's another reason why I'm not confident in the ones the Turbo Buick 6 used. [/quote said:
Rick, Please do not make accusations of other people stuff that you have never seen nor tested, that would be like Turbo buick saying you headers are JUNK......And that doesnt help anyone;)

To me it seems that a couple here don't like me and have a different set of rules applying to them and the staff backing them up. ;) Thats OK though cause I have other places to be.

I never made any accusations. I stated that I wasn't confident with the bellows he used, and I've been warned twice now for that.

Anyone wanting to talk to me can visit me on one of the other sites I frequent. :D
