Kind of silly that EFILive is being so ultra conservative about this. I mean...I understand where they are coming from, from a business perspective, but at the same time, they are only giving you a tool to delete emissions...and second of all, they arent even a US-based company.

Technically, altering tuning at all from what the MFG has "certified as EPA compliant", is breaking the law!!! So why doesnt EFILive just pack it up altogether, in that case and stop supporting duramax's altogether...?

Seems kind of ridiculous to just remove EGR/DPF controls. Why even bother.

What kind of support do they have for the Cummins now? full features and everything? I cant imagine having bought the V2 for $900 taking there word that there was going to be lots of future support only to have read this. I know they talked about doing the 03-05's but that hasnt happended yet probably never will at this point. But what about the 06+ engines are they fully developed at this point? seems hard to believe.

So how will this be enforced? The software will not allow us to modify dtc tables. How will they police that? My guess is only on the new software updates. If we have old software it should b ok? Or is there a way to do it through licensing?

I'm guessing that the software will be altered in future releases to stop DPF deletes.

Simply run two computers, one with the older enabled software and one without that has new releases, I have four laptops, each with a different version installed.

I am going to go thru all of my DTC's, all of my Tables and save the stock tunes with DTC's disabled and EGR/DPF Disabled so if and when the tables go away I will have copies of tunes with all that stuff killed.

Read the stock tune out with the older software, save it, and reflash it as a CAL flash, then read out with the new software.............simple.

This is being done as a legal firewall.

What the gasoline car racers did was hardware. This predates EFILive.

You build a fooler that makes the engine think the equipment is still there.

No larger company is going to want to dink with it, it would have to be schematics published on the web.

Then it becomes a First Amendment issue. Sadly, I'm pretty sure the existing US government has no need for the Bill of Rights.

Have a "Canadian Friend" buy a V2 for you, then you get a Non-US software update.

There is always a way around everything.......just like all things that came along before this, smart people will find a work around or a way around.

This is a legal move to protect EFI-Live, they can now state they have pulled support and restricted the use, if you do it then it's on you.

Looks like the value of my 2002 and 2007/LBZ just skyrocketed.

Watch for LBZ's to go thru the roof in value and LMM's tank if this really gets enforced.

AHHHHHH, having an older truck seems so much better right now.

Hotrodders are a small fraction of society.

My crystal ball says the number of people who want to hotrod Duramaxes is going to drop.

Nope, they will just Hot Rod older Duramax's without the emissions crap.

I believe this also:(

It will just adapt and evolve.

Keeping an Auto-Cal without any updates so I can read the files out and save them with old software, modify and then use that tune as my base.

The code still exists, older software/hardware combo's will allow you to see/modify the code.

Might Order another V2 with a Stream on it so I can have an old and new version just in case.

;)

What blows is that this isn't going to affect air pollution any more than outlawing eating beans.

Hotrodders are a small segment of car owners. This is fluff to keep bureaucrats employed, like the Emissions Controlled Weed Wackers, or motorcycle smog equipment.

Out of all the new jobs created since 2009, 73% have been government jobs.

Just the way the current administration wants it. Everyone is on the government tit.

Seriously,

The easiest cars to hotrod today are the pre-1970 cars.

Today as you drive down the street, see how many of them you see on the road.

There are more Duramaxes than old muscle cars on the road.
