roller coaster weekend. well i sold the hood i had for sale but took like 2 steps back in the process. i went to meet the guy but was having problems w/ the front end, i really wasn't too surprised b/c i never ballanced the wheels. so i get about 20min into Maryland and i hear a thud, then the steering goes loose. i'm like WTF, so i creep over to the side of the road. i look in the driver side wheel well and see the inner tie rod just hanging there. the bolt that holds the inner heim bracket to the center link worked it's way out (even though i had loctite on it). so i take the heim and the bracket out and trek over some bridge to a Pilot that was on the other side of the road to look for tools. well they had nothing, so i stopped at some little garage. turns out the guy had a Duramax too. so i give him 40 bucks and my license so i can borrow some tools to put it back together and limp it back to his shop. i get back there and the allen key he has isn't long enough to reach into the bracket to tighten the 14mm allen head screw. so i have to take the brackets off and take about 1/4" off the ends to make it shallower. OF course the p/s was loose too so i had to do it to that side as well. so 3 hrs later i was back on the road. oh did i mention that b/c the guy had to come meet me for the hood i gave it to him for $300 rather than $350 AND i gave the guy at the garage $100 bucks for letting me use his shit.
SO, i'm driving home and still have a strange shake. the next day i go to sears to have it aligned and the tires ballanced for $140 bucks, but i still have a the shimmy when i hit a bump. i get back to my shop and find that the bolt that holds the outter tie rod end to the spindle was loose, on both sides. i fix that, my leaky brake line, mock up some front shocks and head home at like 2am sunday. i'm on the TP and the truck starts throwing codes like crazy for Low Fuel Rail Pressure. i limp it all the way home at about 50mph and figure i'll just change the fuel filter in the morning (monday). so i get up spend $35 bucks on a fuel filter. change it out and now the truck won't start. i guess it lost suction when i took the filter out and the filter housing plunger wont build any pressure b/c i think the filter housing has a crack in it. so now i have to spend $350 bucks on a new fuel pump that will self prime the system. AND hopefully fix my problem of it not starting, then i have to spend another $100 bucks on a (used) new filter housing so i can stop the leak.
what an extended weekend. so not only did i loose a day of work but i spent all the money i made selling the hood and then some
