I am running the thick block girdle and billet main caps - I believe mine came from ProGram??

The girdle on mine is at least 1/2" thick. Not much pan clearance left - even being 2wd.

Thats from randy's machine shop in richfield utah

X2 , For those that havent heard of him, Randy knows his shit and has built most of our local trucks , Dimitri's , Matt Moons , Matt Larsons, Zach Fuller , and the "Custom Auto" trucks . All have held up longer than most Built motors i have seen, both Matts are on there secound season of racing and pulling , just starting there third . I will probably use one of his Girdles on my next Motor .

on another note, the girdles ive seen for the cummins motors all seem to be about the thickness of the Gorilla Girdle. Others are probably just overbuilt. Im sure it doesnt take much to prevent the mains from walking

Not to mention the hardness of the steel used can make a big difference in the thickness needed .

They are mostly to prevent side to side and front to back movement? It surely isn't doing much for resisting a twisting motion (think of ringing out a wet rag)?

I enjoy seeing the different things available. Fun stuff.

Hardness does not effect the modulus of elasticity. It wouldn't matter if it was made out of mild steel (1018) or heat treated 300m, under the same load they would both flex approximately the same amount.

in another thread, a price was thrown out there (800-1000), but who knows if that was quoted for just buying the girdle or installation too. I am curious myself. and this thin girdle - does it still require upper oil pan modification?

We haven't offered a kit up yet for the dmax's.. I haven't seen Matt's kit, but if it's thick then yes it's probably similar. The small parts aren't done yet to call it a "kit", so we've just been doing them in house.

after reading all the threads on girdles in the dmax that i can find, i cant see an advantage to the thick one over the thin one. what's your opinion?
