I have a friend that does the same thing with a wheel stander. Visits schools and talks to the kids about how to see a dream through to a reality etc. Except he does it in the parking lot, because when he's done talking, he fires it up and wheelies up and down the lot.

Get it on
Got to get it on!
No choice but to get on!!
Mandate... Get-it-on!!!

You can expect a lot more of this in major mainstream media when this car gets to the track. This car has been on the back burner for a year while I worked on two other programs .

Greg, reading your posts and then seeing your sunglasses you are wearing inside while giving a PRESENTATION, I can't help but think of this guy.....

I've competed in a lot of speaking contests and sunglasses are seriously unprofessional unless you are a blind person. Then again you come off as a tool, and I would expect nothing less.

You sound very proud of yourself and thats great, but theres a saying "build it and they will come". Unfortunatley today's world often looks for the best talker and what will gain the most mainstream media versus simply finding the best performers and then sponsoring them.

You seem to be riding on the coattails of your previous accomplishments, good for that, but you have accomplished nothing with your DURAMAX dragster, which is what this site is about. DURAMAXES, until it runs as good as you say for at least a year, none of us are going to care because this site is about DURAMAXES.

There is not 2 or 3 people that are sick of you, most knowledgeable people who have accomplished something with their trucks are probably sick of you but just choose to say nothing. I'm sure there are plenty of newb's that will follow you around and that's fine, they follow Longhorn Fab Shop, Wade and D as well.

As far as I am concerned you are nothing more than a sellout. You are not here to help us, you are not here to help the duramax performance scene, you are not here to help the diesel world, heck you weren't even there to help those kids, everything you do is a publicity stunt. I think after reading this thread and some others online, its pretty obvious to most people you are simply promoting yourself. You talk down to everyone else like you are some god. "I'll be on top soon", " See what happens when a pro NHRA guy gets ahold of a diesel" blah blah go blow another banana.

It's guys like you that eventually loose everything because your all smoke and mirrors. I'm reminded of a famous quote from My Cousin Vinny.

You are the playing card, you talk a big game, flash a lot of fancy parts, talk about how awesome you will be/were, yet talk is cheap and I know you will never live up to the hype you create for yourself. Even if this is the fastest Duramax around (which its more of a v8 diesel since it shares little to nothing with a duramax) you will start running your mouth about how great your next "program" is and will be. Your mouth is writing checks years in advance, by the time you get there inflation catches up and your worth squat.

All of us understand the time commitment, many of us have posted very long build threads on here and taken years to complete our projects. However the difference is we didn't go on an on about how awesome we felt we were and how we were going to change the world and be #1.

The most respected people in any sport/industry are the ones who simply did a good job, the ones that got a big head and talked a big game faded away and are forgotten, but those who were respected by others for their accomplishments as well as their good character are remembered forever.

Let your car do the talking, but at this point I don't think anyone cares. I certainly will congradulate you and give you my respect for your accomplishment if it ever does run as well as you say, but you've shown all of us the type of character you are and unless that changes, nobody is really going to respect you. You'll probably start running your mouth once it runs anyways and everything will be back to square one. I'm glad you have an entire team and sponsors backing you because you sure don't seem like the type of guy that would be part of the racing "family" and would receive or give anything to help his competitors get up and running. You seem to be the big shot that thinks hes above the rest of the average joes who help each other out.

I wish you luck in your "program" but I think you need to slow down a bit before you tip over from how swollen your head is.

I can get sponsored for making my car look pretty and sound fast!? No way! Then come brag about it to make sure everyone knows how fast it can be but not race it. And every couple months keep posting about it to keep people jealous.

Race the rail car to prove everyone wrong or shut your mouth. Yes you may have had great accomplishments, but I've never seen you help anyone in a thread.

Generation ME=Greg Hogue

To be honest, ever since I quit subscribing to diesel magazines I havent heard Greg Hogues name until now. Publicity stunts and thats it. Hes not someone you remember because he helps nobody but himself at least within our little Duramax community. Maybe he would lend someone a helping hand but it would probably come with a speech about some sponsors products and "mainstream media".

Bloody Hell does this guy think hes going to get an interview with Matt Lauer or what? Mainstream media soaks up any juicy story. A guy out making good consistent runs with his rail (like Jeff) without drama does not make for a good story, guys like Greg and Dmitri make for very good juicy stories that sells magazines.

I make a motion for you to NOT be a spokesperson for diesel performance. You seem like a tool.

I dont doubt one bit you would be the perfect person to talk to the non diesel enthusiast community. I sincerely mean that. You seem to be a very self focused person who is good at talking on the go. To enthusiasts you look like a total douche but to the rest you paint a pretty picture. You remind me of most politicians.

Thinking back I can actually remember when I looked up to you, you were always in the magazines with "big" accomplishments. Now I look back on it all and realize your just like any other self centered sell out.

Greg is not all that

He keeps talking about the past. NOTHING in his past was his! NOTHING!!!! It's all talk. He is vary good at that. He never race the NX car. He was fired before it was done. He never raced the Banks truck, fired before completed. He did race the Dr P truck but parted was shortly after. All his comp talk is just that talk. He is a wanna be! Talk is cheap Greg. Get it done and show me. I hope you do so it gives me drive to bust your ***! P.S. I was told by others that the reason it's taking so long is because he doesn't have the sponsors he keeps saying he has. That I would believe! That's ok too. It's hard to do without it but don't be ashamed about it.

Shiit...

I had John Kiewicz (MT Editor) call me at work and call me every nasty in the book, then got him to discuss 1/4 mi testing procedures on LS1.COM. This was shortly after Lingenfelter was killed on our local track.

I had posted on the Internet that nobody at Motor Trend had any talent, and my wife could out drive him. He did not take kindly to that. :D

This was after they posted a 12.85 ET for the 2002 Z06. Ours was running 11.95 stock.

The thread "blew up" to all of two pages but its a start.....

http://www.competitiondiesel.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167528

It's been running for some time. It's made some passes too, numbers looked fairly competitive to what's out there now in the 1/8 mile. Don't know 1/4 mile number because it puked a valve seat. There's a link below to the thread with the time slip and ensuing banter about it. While I don't wish broken parts on anyone I do find it ironic he's been talking smack about being able to go rounds like no else can and it lunched the motor in testing.

Comp461

He also has Alex Laughlin who used to run Dr. Performance as a "diesel pro celebrity" driver. For those of you that don't know, Dr. P got out of the diesel game a few years back. Alex was kind enough to start a thread essentially saying **** the diesel community. I'll link it below, it's a long thread but the first post pretty sums it up. Seems that Greg has managed to find another person in the diesel community that people dislike more than him.

I don't really see why people hated his post so much...I can totally understand how he felt.
Sure he wasn't eloquent about it, but I definitely respect those who choose to speak the truth in a public forum..

To put the record straight, we didn’t have a catastrophic engine failure, I leak test my engine after every weekend. One hole leaked 35% more than the others, a valve seat moved .020 this was minor, the pistons had a small about of damage from something that the engine ingested, while the engine was not running. We have since stop using the scoop tray as a tool tray lol. And since I have 10 spare pistons I just put a new one in sending the one I took out back to JE to look at anyway.

This car is fast, really fast, and will have no problem running 6.70 @ 200 10 times in a row. We are 900 lbs lighter than the other Dmax truck or even more enlightening 35% lighter. And do it fairly smoke free. The CR and for that matter the Dmax engine platform will soon hold all the records.

As far as Alex driving. Alex is a good and experienced NHRA proven Top Dragster driver. I agree with his post on the other page, there are a lot of great people in the diesel world, but this sports is plagued with a group of nobody’s that their only claim to fame is being forums moderator and bully’s, and only connection to the sports is to show up at events a promote the drunken hill Billy attitude that is killing us.
I have been racing diesels for 10 years now, and plan on doing it for a little while longer
