You guys think that bowl design would make any difference in performance?
I think that BD and FIA are the biggest over looked areas on our pistons.

If you get enough pressure and temperature, add nitrous, and it will catalyze aluminum since aluminum is flammable like magnesium is.

If the Dodge guys haven't seen it, it's because they haven't made enough pressure and temperature yet. Aluminum is aluminum.

That's why we are retiring the bottle.

But to be honest, engine failures are tied very closely to marketing, especially in the Dodge realm, so data is hard to come by.

I know a few pullers running arias pistons in their tractors and so far have had good luck with them.

I was looking at running MAHLE Forged pistons myself but if theres anything better let me know.

I could care less about, cost, I just wanna build this thing right the first time, even if it takes two years.

The Mahle forged ones run 2,500 area and come with rings and pins, The Arias are last time I heard 1,600 and I think they have rings but no pins.

Well pat, all aluminum is not created equal one grade can handle 1000* and melt while another can handle 2000* before it melts. thats why they offer different grades, cast, forged, billet, ECT.

Also coatings on the dome reduce the chance of a flame travel by like 40% hence ensuring higher heat handleing abilities and makeing combustion more effiecient. so that would "almost" ensure that you wouldent hurt the piston from heat.

The pro mod and top fuel guys are using aluminum with higher temps and cyl psi AND 2-3 times the RPM! which gives the piston less time to cool between cycles.

Ever thought that maybe you missed somthing in the build or in the tune that cause the issues you had with your pistons, and didnt just single out the nos?

I know that too much timing WILL melt any piston out there with or without nos

Top fuel is not a good example since they don't run nitrous.

Have you run 55-60PSIG boost with high flowing 4v heads then sprayed nitrous into it at 1600 F? Give it a shot then let me know the outcome.

I wonder if the reason the big twin Dodge guys don't run the bottle very often is because of alum ignition. I doubt it's because they feel a moral obligation to detune their trucks. 40PSI seems to be safe with nitrous, but as you go up, so does the pressure and temperature.

I'm not the only one who has seen it. Just the only one that talks about it publically.

PS - Unless you know for a FACT that Banks is not running just #2 pump diesel like their crew says, stop regurgitating the rumor. It's nothing but slander.

the use nos

There's a Dodge board out there swears up and down that they KNOW Banks and his crew lie about what fuel they are running (propane, CNG, alcohol, etc), but never produce any proof. Heck, they let everyone climb all over their truck in the pits. Yes, they run nitrous.

Ahh pat what do i know about nitrous?,Who do you think your talking too? im not new to this or nitrous, i mean i ran a single charger 60 psi with 2 stage nos (1700*+)over 400 times and never even had an issue, the result was 10.90 @ 125 with no smoke! i think it's in the tuning honestly, or apparently just blind luck...

Anyway what rumors are you talking about? i could only hope you completely read the post i made reguarging this topic before you made an assumption...

at 1:06 what are they purging?

i ask jeff barker and he said it was nos

Nitrous. Banks says they run nitrous, and will show you everything in their setup if you ask. If you are saying it's propane, then provide proof.

I will trust a Duramax racer's word way before that of a spectator, which is what most their detractors are.

We ran 10.83 @ 126 at 55-60psig without nos at 6420lb. Exactly what is the nitrous actually doing then?

only an idiot would spray AFTER the egt's are that high.....

Here is a link to a tuned dodge that loves nitrous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiiFRdIjbi8

Thats great pat but you built it for that, right?
well i built mine for nos.. and it did what i wanted to do -----go fast with a single charger.

For me the nitrous serves a few bennifits, for me it's better to work with, it adds lots of HP and reliability when done right, and to the out side world the smokless ability looks alot better than smokin down the track.
