I have to get boots for school and am torn. I could spend like $200 on a pair of danners or bite the bullet and get a pair of whites but they are $$$. Been working on stupid subarus too stay afloat. What're you guys wearing for boots?Oh yeah I'm going to school so I can be a firefighter paramedic

I wear Red Wing work boots, but I'm not sure what you need them for.

he'll want a tight fitting boot, that is comfortable and shock resistant. Also resistant to blood pathogens. He will be running in them a lot and they will be on all day long in conditions. A standard work boot is not the best. Look forward to spending around $200 on a pair, they are key to find the right size and fit.

Good luck Jordan and congrats into school.

edit: also look into a Kevlar toe, over steel, less weight, better looking better feel.

I'm a big Rocky supporter since they are local. But I've been thinking about getting a pair of these.

I've heard good things but I don't have any experience with them.

i used to wear rocky's at work, amazingly comfortable for the first few months but they wear down after 3-4 months and after that give no support. since i got promoted to engineer i just wear a pair of black sneakers, new balence iirc. i don't get into the medicals much anymore, just hussle equipment in for the medic and if we get a fire or a messy medical i put on my bunkers.

some dept's will let you wear black sneakers, others will say you need "polish-able" footwear. i really like the sneakers for driving, plus much easier to get on and off than boots, even the zipper ones.

i have a pair of wolverines that have lasted about 3 years now...lightweight, steel toe, and cheap. i don't work in them every day anymore (different job) but i still get my use out of them on the weekends. for me, they are comfortable enough to wear all day, every day.

Haven't looked at bates. The whites are the bees knees but $430. I have a few pairs of redwings but these have to be black and all mine are brown

Caterpillar boots for me. Specifically the Alaska FX in black.:)

I've probably had four pair over the years. Great wear (long life), super comfy, and not really that heavy for a steel toe. Also available in a non-steel toe..
