havent tried alot of the mentioned ones but get about 3-4yrs out of Wolverines, just toss a new insole in when the go out. The ones ive had now for a long time, prolly 5 years but dont wear them regualrly anymore. They look like hell steel showing but lots of miles left on em! My dad swears by ECCO's, real comfy.

Danner used to be a great boot when they were a private company. Last I checked they were bought out and quality was not were it used to be. The Oakley boots look cool.

Caterpillar Alaskan FX-I used to wear them all the time, comfortable, $85, decent life out of them.

But mostly I wear Hoffman Pole climber boots. There heavy, but very durable. Had the same pair for almost 3 years wearing them everyday, up until the last half year, when I realized how comfortable and light sneakers are. But there built for climbing. The sole finally seperated and I got a new pair that should be here tommorrow.

I used to like Danners, but they are not the boot they once were; pass on them.

I've gone through a few pairs of whites(loggers) and they are decent, great support, but still off the shelf, and they have seemed to go down in quality a bit.

For the last 7 years, I've worn a pair of boots that were custom made for my feet that are similar to the white design. Local shop that stands behind there work. Might want to look local, or ask the lineman, etc.

I like the lightweight oakley's also. Feel like tennis shoes, are nice and cool and still have decent support. If you'll be on hard surfaces daily, I'd give them a shot first.

Whites only for me. Worn them for the last 12 years, only boot I can get to hold for more than 3 years (soles are pretty slick by then). You can get the whites custom built if off the shelf ones don't fit well. Just a note breaking them in is a bitch plan on at least 2 weeks of shear pain, Hmmm maybe they break your foot into the boot:D. Seriously they are the most comfortable boots or shoes once broke in. I tried Justins, Danners, Redwings, etc, etc, none were as comfy or held up. Sticker shock is rough but its worth it to me. Good luck. Oh and their rebuildable. 225 for the last ones. Replaced everything but the uppers even new eyelets.

You have the smoke jumpers? Are you fire/medic? My sisters husband swears by them too.

I only wear redwings but being on a shop floor all day is different that being a paramedic. I wouldnt want to run in my boots. They are lightweight, tightfitting, slip resistant supposedly and shock resistant. Very nice boots. Red Wings are top notch,

I have three pairs of redwings and they're all pretty good, but I haven't seen a boot they make that's black. That's the biggest kicker
