Allison with Transgo Jr is still stock. All the trim valves do is divert an extra 120 psi to the C3 and C4 clutches; nothing more and nothing less.

Unless the definition of stock is not opening ANY of the powertrain's components to make any mods, I agree with you Mike.

If the argument is tuner, intake and exhaust only, then by rights a jr is not stock. But that's an argument that can go on for years in itself.

Who has gone the fastest on fuel only with all the stock parts EXCEPT tune, exhaust and intake?

A video would be great too.

Sounds like a good article for Diesel Power Mag or the likes!!

Ford/Chevy/Dodge grudge match with only tuner, intake and exhaust mods allowed!!:thumb:

I want to see a Ford run fast with a stock trans tune. They do things electronically that we have to use different valves to do.

With no lift pump I would have to say the LBZ with EFI. Seems like the TQ conv.. in the LBZ hold better. I'm not sure if they are the same LBZ-LMM but have held better for me anyway.

The sprag is weaker in the 6 speed converter. Even a built 6 speed triple converter will not hold the power the 5 speed triple converter will hold.
Be carefull who you buy from.

True because they have no valves. Each shift solenoids IS a trim solenoid.

Your right. They can't run without that, they will burn up even faster than ours.

I think the bigger question would be how long did it last.
There is a difference between running an ET as a best, and what is survivable.
Bonzai runs are great, but so far I haven't seen any Dmaxes regardless of year survive very long in the 13's on a stock trans. The LBZ/LMM's will do the best by a good margin, but seldom make it to 50 passes.

Yup, my tranny is slippin already from wot in 5th gear... whatever was the level 6 with out the speedloader on banks was either my limit or failure. Always was doin wot in 5th and never had a limp for 50k plus miles. Put on the 6 with pyro and speedloader activated and got 2 limps in 5th. Then went to efi and limps around 85-90mph. have 75k on truck. Think truck has done excellant for me. glad to be learning everyday.

I dont get the argument anyways, if you wanna play, you gotta pay, i dont see what your gaining by beating on your stock tranny for a few months instead of a few passes, the price of the tranny doesnt get any cheaper in a few months, you just ruin parts and get clutch debris in the lines that risk getting into your new built tranny. Imo ford has no advantage unless you plan on running 13s forever and trade your truck every 3 months.

x2 on u gotta pay to play. I didnt know about debri gettin in the lines then transfering into the new tranny. I just putt putt around now, once I started to get a high rev when upshifting. I had in mind that I could trash this tranny and get ready for a rebuild, but I guess this will do more harm? Or cost more for repairs? Thx for the heads up. McRat did say STOP when u get slippage.:D I just luv the tune, but have put his trans safe one on from his mcrat2.

you can be pretty fast if you have the balls to :D

one run wont hurt :happy2:

Nah, Ill just say you are faster for 2009... to be continued :box:

This is off topic, but do you care to explain further? What's the power difference? I don't understand, and I am looking to learn.

There are a few vids of CCSB 6.4 with "stock" trans running as fast as 12.7. I'd say the PS has the edge with the trans it may not last forever, but it last longer the ours.

I'll be curious as how the 6 speed ford trans holds up as it's supposed to be even stronger than the 5 speed. Their Aluminum heads and the other changes look to be a real contender. Time will tell.

i dont see how that would last very long considering how many of those trans my company has go through on stock trucks let alone the head gaskets and the rest of the truck, a coworker has been through two motors, a trans and about 4 radiators and thats just one truck let alone being stock with being under its load capacity.

No I can't explain any further without teaching everyone how to build a better converter which I won't do.
The 6 speed converter is weaker to begin with and cannot be built as strong as the 5 speed converter. Since there are so many 6 sp converters laying around, builders need to use them up to recover costs. We will start seeing them now. They will not hold big power.
