Exergy bad balance rates

You might have to relearn the new injectors with a Tech2. From the factory every injector has his own calibration number (written on the plastic part) these numbers are programmed into the ecm, so the ecm knows all 8 flow rates. Now after the injector modification the numbers on the injector dont match the actual flow of the injectors anymore. Exergy told me if you see bad balance rates after putting their overs in, just re-programm the injectors using only one number and the same number for all 8, and it should be better.

Like Tony said, balance rates are affected by other variables. 1 being valve lash. Could also be fuel rail pressure at idle, in or out of gear, tunes idle rpm and other things...

Hope this helps

Also injectors are built to be "tight" so that as time goes on, check ball wears seat etc the injectors stay in spec. I wouldn't be worried.

No smoke at idle that I have noticed anymore. Ofcourse it did for alittle when I first built it. I'll have to check again to see how much they have changed, but I don't think much. I set my valve lash at .011 thinking the new cam would wear down alittle and loosen it up abit. Haven't called anyone yet.

Have you gotten your tunes updated yet? Keep putting the miles on her, and get the updated tunes for the 60 overs. :thumb:

That's what I was thinking. Seen someone else had to do the same. Might of exaggerated the miles but it is between 700 and 1000 forsure. Here's a pic they got pretty bad.

I've got a tune for 60 overs. And yes I have the flow chart, they look great on paper. I'm going to give them a ring and see what they suggest

Talked with them for 15 mins, he was nice fella forsure. Anyway he (forgot his name already lol) suggested I might need to get the nima codes recalibrated. Which is I guess what the technical name is for matching the injector to the ECM. Also thought tight valve lash could be a cause (but explained he was no engine builder and my lash I set could have been fine aswell) It was set to .011 inticipating camshaft wear. Said the ECM is always actively learning the nima codes but can take along time so in a case like this, it really could work itself out.

Dan, your link is not working

If they flowed well for exergy and you cant get them flowing right after you put the calibration for each injector in I would double check your valve lash. The way a CR test stand works is exactly how your truck would work, with computers a pump rail and injectors. If they dont flow right on your truck its usually an electronics (calibration) issue and sometimes valvetrain. I know of alot of people going .011 and even .010...but not for camshaft wear.. not sure on your thinking there.
