very cool henry! everyone likes a discount when buying in bulk, doesn't matter if it's fuel filters or rods. I'd venture to guess you could do just like you said and do some kind of group buy on some item every month or so. Sales inspire people when money is tight like it is these days for many.

I think someone already tried selling those once and a few poor member ended up with those sets they were miss stamped lol

I am in the rod market as well. I would prefer the lightest rod out there if there is a choice but whatever gets the best price would be awesome too.

Whatever happened to that John Noonan guy or whatever his screen name was?? He was talking about making rods at one time.....

You just have to learn to read Chinese so you can tell what is what before you buy or install them. ;)

Nope. He was looking into a group buy as well but that was only for a few sets within his company for a couple customers + me.

I haven't confirmed with him yet-waiting now to see how this pans out.

So has anyone thought about a plan here? There seems to be alot of interest.

Maybe one of the vendor's here can talk to a rod builder and work out the details and discount on a group buy? How many would need to purchased, how much money up front would be needed, what the discount would be.

I'd like to have a set in my hands by xmas, and not have to sell my truck just to be able to afford them!

I didnt see much of this last time around but I am definitely in for some group buys of products.

My Caltracs Group Buy was pretty successful I would say.... going to do QA1s next and I have a few more in the works.

Whats great about this board is all the vendors are buddies and dont step on each others toes :thumb::hug:

I think the group buy on the rods was forgone because they simply can't mark them down much. On the dual cp3 group buy, I was told a particular company doesn't have enough of all the pieces to support a group buy and still make regular sells elsewhere at this time. Maybe once they re-stockpile all the pieces of the kits, they can entertain the idea of a group buy purchase.

I still call BS on this Mitch.

Although I do not know what the raw material is worth or the time involved to cut a Dmax rod is, taking into consideration the cost of the gasser stuff, even the high HP gasser stuff, I think there is a fair chunk of wiggle room here if they had to turn out say 80 to 100 rods. Especially with half the money down in advance or something like that.

Like I said, the R&D is done and paid for so if it is just the cost of material and services that are keeping the cost high, then I understand, but I doubt it.

I know how big a discount my company gets when we buy 40 conn rods at a time for our 2500HP fluid pumps and it is quite substantial compared to buying one at the tune of $2500 a piece. And this is in a much smaller, more select market!!

On edit: Just to be clear I don't blame the vendors for this. They gotta eat too!!
