Just a heads up +15 means it is having to add fuel on #5. A fuel knock usually but not always has a negative balance rate.

if it were stuck wide open why is there no smoke then? I drove the thing for 30 miles still no blow by coming out of the PCV or oil fill tube.

Its stuck closed than Probably won't hear anything different when you turn it off.

oh it def. sounds like rod knock... I drove the truck 30 miles home last night and it got ok then bad again. I'd prefer to not poke holes through my connector but maybe i will have too. I have just started running an 2 part additive IIRC this is the 2nd tank ha

ive had a hole in my connector for 120,000 miles, and 5 years...and I live in a LITTLE harsher climate than you.

It will be fine nick. Either that or you can buy the expensive 'repair kit' from the dealer. Basically just includes a new connector with wire on it, and some heat-shrink butt-splice connectors.

Nick, Ben and fireman are probably right. The knock is probably an adjacent cylinder in the firing order getting a ton of extra fuel to attempt to even the crank speed. The +15 balance rate means it's adding 15mm of fuel to #5, so translation either a short rod (probably not as it doesn't smoke) or a connection issue.

If you are +15 and its knocking it's stuck closed. Had the same thing happen to me 2 years ago on the way back from Indy. Got bad fuel at a Pilot. One of the Cummins I was with lost all 6 injectors from fuel at the same stop.

I had to do the ice pick mod to one of my injectors right after I built my motor. Has been fine since but scared the sh!t out of me when it happened. Do you have a CEL. There should be a code if your harrness is messed up.

If you are +15 and its knocking it's stuck closed. Had the same thing happen to me 2 years ago on the way back from Indy. Got bad fuel at a Pilot. One of the Cummins I was with lost all 6 injectors from fuel at the same stop.

i got water in my fuel from a pilot when i first got my truck. gayness!!! hope we learned something.
