If you are back and forth with the manufacturer of a part that failed and hoping that they will help you with some of the costs of the collateral damages it is a courtesy to that manufacturer that you don't post things before they are known to be fact. You give them a chance to find and correct the problem with their part and make things right and don't say anything that would hurt that manufacturer's sales. I give props to Chris for standing by while everyone jokes and talks about it being his mistake, calling him weak, etc. The people that need to know and be involved right now are and hopefully the issue will be resolved.
As was said anything man made can have issues and what separates a good business from a scum bag is how those issues are handled. You can do the best work in town and very rarely have any problems, but if you are the type that doesn't stand behind what you do and leaves your customers to fend for themselves after you've gotten paid then I would rather give my money to a guy that might have a few more problems but stands behind his work 100% and will take care of them.

Whoever once said he made a mistake? Nobody that I recall. Nor has anyone pointed blame. If you're referring to my post it was just a general example. I'm not blaming anyone or anything.
From what I recall all that was said it's not a broken crank or piston. I don't even think he said what the problem was in the first place in this thread. It just went right to I'm selling everything F'it!!
All the people that followed this almost 600 post build want to know is what happened. Nobody is looking for accountability. That's all I'm saying.
You did! You make have been saying it hypothetically, but Chris said he does not wish to post what happened at this time and you just won't let it go for now.
So what you are saying is you made an embarrassing mistake.
Unlike Chris, most people will get on a forum and completely flame a company for what they speculate to be the problem with their truck. Later they find that a problem on the truck unrelated to the company they were flaming was the cause of their problem and they either don't even post about it out of embarrassment and shame, or they admit their mistake and do post up they found something else to be the issue. Either way once it has been written online it is there forever - even if they correct themselves later in the thread how many people have read it by then and decided not to buy from that company based on false info, how many won't read through to the end and will not buy from the company based on what was said at the beginning of the thread? Why hurt a company's sales before you have all of the facts and give them a chance to correct the problem. I have seen guys go through a few turbos from Company A burning them up and flame Company A, then buy a "better turbo" from Company B only to burn it up. Finally they pressure check and find tons of boost leaks that were letting the turbos overspeed and burn up. How is that fair to company A?

Also nobody is blaming parts vendors or manufacturers. We just want to know what happened. Rod through the block? Head split in half? Is that so wrong? Not a word has been said. Just f it I'm selling it. Wtf is that?
If say for instance he said I was driving down the road and it started knocking and then I found a hole in my oil pan and I will post what I find later, that's all that needs to be said at the time. Nobody is going to blame the oil pan or the guy that bolted it up.
As I said before. Several hundred posts about a build with a lot of the same parts the rest of us have in our engines and then something catastrophic happens with very few miles and everything is quiet? Doesn't make sense to me.
I'm done here and I hope he does eventually post what happened because as I said before, maybe it will help someone out in the future and that's one of the things this forum is for.
Side note to the op, if you feel any of this including my posts are inappropriate pm me with post numbers to remove and I will clean it up for you if you feel it is too off topic.
I understand everyone wants to know what happen. I want the facts and if a part is defective I want the manufacture/distributor to have a chance to set things right with failed part and parts damaged due to failure. If things are not corrected and set strait I have no issues showing the pictures I have and the facts I know.
I gotta agree with LBZ. I've been checkin in here daily to see what happened. we get 500+ posts about the build, then for 2 months now you cant tell us what even happened to the motor.

Oh, and I totally agree with LBZ also! I hope my new motor doesn't fail because it may have the same failed parts as yours!!!
The 2 month wait was due to, 1 me not having a garage to work in at the time and it was snowing in DC.
2 I'm in the military and just can't go work on stuff when ever I feel like it due to operational commitments I am obligated to perform.
We just got the engine pulled this past Saturday, 4 days ago. Give it some time fellas.

Yeah, take your time. Once it is all straightened out, let us know. Or not. It is your truck, and your life. That being said, of course we are all very interested in finding out what happened, so we can learn from it. Good or bad. Some of us just have no patience.

A few parts showed, vac/pressure gauge and a power steering cooler. Hope to get started on it soon.
Hey Chris, how are you plumbing in you vac/boost gauge. I am thinking about throwing one on to see the difference before and after redoing the pvc on mine.
I am going to drill and tap one of the unused bolt holes on the driver side valve cover. I feel that would be a better spot due to having thicker material.
Yes sir, onece everything is back together we will need to get a bracket made for the pump. It's going to be a tight fit but my plan is to mount it low on the passenger side. Still working some stuff out with it but I'm excited to get it back together.
