Yes, I'm running 3:42 gears front and rear and pull in 3rd gear. I'm going to switch to 4:56 and 4th gear this winter. The 4:56's will put less stress on the transfer case and drive shafts.
Is the driveline rigid mounted or still have mounts w/ some flex? Are the fkexing too much? Not flexing enough & adding stress by making them a structural member of the chassis?

Motor has Merchant mounts, tranny has Energy poly mount. I never broke last year, but think the combination of new hitch and Mud grappler tires on the front this year is just too much for the T-case with the 3:42 gears. I'm going back to the Bfg a/t's for the rest of this year and will change gear ratio's over the winter.
It's a catch 22, 3.42's hold up way better than 4.56's do but the transfer case doesn't care for it to much. Truck is running great Zak, keep it up!
Tru Story, Unfortunately the Tcase is the best fail you can have with the 3.42's......when the pinion dose finally fail it usually exits threw a new window it makes in the side of the housing!!!

I can only imagine. I lost it after I broke my transfercase and walked away from the truck. Can't imagine what you're going through. Better man that I, that's for sure.
If you're not breaking it, you're not pushing it hard enough. I'm getting to lazy to push mine hard, hate to fix it when it breaks, need to find me a minimum wage mechanic.
Our 02 duramax service truck at work did this exact same thing. Stearing box failed just like that.
Have you considered a SCS t-case? You could have multiple gear changes that way too...instead of being limited choice for the diffs

Yes, but I want to stick with the Allison trans for now.
