back on topic if a motor build is lets say anywhere from $8000-$15000, and you already have your duramax, with some go fast parts on it already. The cost of selling the truck to go buy a mega cab which might cost you even more money out of pocket, cuz megacabs are expensive. (And I don't kow if your truck is paid for or not but that also plays a role.) might start you off in the hole in the first place.

By the time you sell your dmax, buy a stock dodge, build it, put on parts, turbos, cp3's trans etc... just to get you where your dmax is right now and them to get past it, you probably could have taking that money that you wasted on buying another truck and putting parts on it and built your LBZ kept the truck which you probably have the way you like it, and beat up on cummins' all day long and it would give you the opportunity to go way further with your build since the motor is now built. :2cents:

Well you present a good point. I would not sell my Lbz till the value of them went up and i would have to find a good deal on one. I know a guy near me thats selling one and i wanted to take a look at it. I figured if i could make more money off the mega( which would be hard) it might justify switchin. All i have invested in my Lbz right now is EFI Live, 5" exhaust, and 285 all terrains

efi live=$800 plus a tune if you didn't get one free, 5" exhaust=$500, tires=$800.
Which equals $2100. not including labor or if you had to buy a tune. If you switched and even came out of the deal even your at $2100 just to get the dodge where your dmax is. ( and the lbz would still prob beat it) The $2100 is some good money for hard parts or labor towards that motor. Plus to get the dodge past your LBZ that's even more money that could be put towards a motor. I just hate to see someone go over to the dark side:lildevil:

I'm not tying to tell you what to do. Only you know what's the best option. But I had the same thought after I bought my LLY. I thought I should sell this buy a cheap lb7 and use the money I saved to build the lb7.(including a motor build right off the bat) But after all the headach it would cause and downtime and so on I chose against it, and my truck is turning out IMO to be way better than I originally thought it would be. and better than the lb7 would have turned out.

Nice thing about running a Cummins, is everyone comes outside when you pull up somewhere!

Not because they like your truck.

Because they think the UPS truck arrived. :D

Cabinet supplier for us drives a 24v cummins. I tell him that everytime I see him and get the same response everytime ...... "at least I get decent mileage".... to which I shake my head and say "is that the best argument you got for owning one???":rofl:

they all say that about the mileage but i have never seen it , i have 2 guys i travel around with we all have simaler 5th wheels and i sometimes pull doubles, and not only do i outpull them up every canyon by 10-20 mile mph i am always 1-2 mpg better while pulling or empty . one is a 2006 5.9 6speed manual , and the other is a 2007 5.9 6 speed manual , lets just say they dont talk trash about duramaxes anymore , nor will i talk trash about there cummins either they are nice trucks but my money will stay with the duramax .
