Duel CP3s or single nodded CP3

After doing a quick search about modded cp3s, I saw several people post that modded ones seem to fail and they recommend duel cp3s, does this still seem to be true? (The threads were several years old)

Would running two stock cp3s be beneficial as opposed to one of Mark at Danville's modded LBZ pumps?

I'm only trying to make close to 600hp. I'm on stock internals and I'm aware thats playing with fire, but I will build my motor when I need to one day.

Also I'm on my phone so if you don't see my Sig, I have an lly with 200k miles on it, tunes by ATP, built trans, lift pump etc

I think modded single pumps got a lot of bad reputation from companies who had no idea what the hell they were doing modifying them, like industrial for example and their "55%" "85%" "120%" pumps. Pure garbage.

Pumps like fleece, Exergy etc that actually change the stroke of the pump are dead reliable and use genuine bosch parts to modify them.

Mark sells exergy pumps, he also mods LBZ pumps (equivalent to a sportsman pump or cp3k) which removes the restrictions in the higher RPM's.

For your power goals, one of marks modded lbz pumps, fleece cp3k, or an exergy sportsman will be more than sufficient to make 600 and keep up with 40-60% injectors with the proper tuning.

^^ I agree 100% with using either Danville's modded lbz pump (which I am currently using on my 600 hp lb7) or the exergy sportsman pump. They are both capable of 700-725 I believe

Yeah these posts like I said were back in early 2012 and earlier. I'm most likely going yo go with his modded lbz pump. Now when I buy an lbz pump, do I need to buy a different regulator as well?

No, his pump includes the regulator (as do all new cp3's) and is the LBZ version. The scaling on the lly vs lbz regulator is similar but still needs to be modified in the tuning to reap the benefit.

I ran a 10mm exergy in the valley of my lmm. Thats a sick pump for sure. I am now trying an exergy sportsman to see how far I can push the stock injectors and stock turbo. Curious @ what hp it will hit the wall with the sportsman pump. Then a 68 stage 2r danville will be next.

Sub- I have a Sportsman and it has done me well so far. Thinking about throwing another sportsman over top of it in a dual kit though as I'll be doing bigger injectors soon.

My modded LBZ cp3 is good for 700hp range depending on fueling. For what it is worth, Brett's C10 runs a pair of my modded LBZ cp3's and goes 8.8's@156+mph and those pumps have a ton of passes on them so reliability is awesome with them. Great pump for the price! As far as stroker pumps go, I love Exergy pumps! Just did 1075hp 2017ftlbs on the engine dyno with the 12mm as a single with a BMW475 single T4 turbo while holding 29,500psi-32,000psi on 250%inj while running 16-18* and 1850us. Pretty awesome to say the least. I run them on street trucks all the time because it cleans them up under the hood and you don't have to deal with the extra headache of dual fuelers.:thumb:

Mark, would there be anybenefit to switching from two stockers to two of your modded pumps if rail pressure wasnt suffering previously?

Holy hell! 32000psi?! How reliable is that kind of pressure? I thought i remember reading not long ago that 30k was asking for a blown up pump

Lol, that's what I thought too but when you can't see what's actually happening you don't know. We were averaging 29-32K Psi at full power and when we left off the throttle it would hit 37-38K psi without issue. The balls like to pop out of the injector bodies at 39K+ psi. We made 30-40 passes on the engine dyno like this and it's the original 12mm cp3 that I ran 2yrs ago in this motor when my truck did 10.96 at TS with the 72mm vgt and 100%inj. It was funny cause Phil and Rick from Exergy were like"Isn't that cool you can see what it is actually doing!" I said actually no that is not a real good feeling, lol! The sensor we were using registered 39K Psi. We abuse the shit out of our Exergy pumps and absolutely love the reliability of them!
Back in the day (07-08) we couldn't get II pumps to stay together at stock psi levels and they said we were running them too hard. My reply was "My modded LBZ's are 100times more reliable and get the job done at half the price!"

That's fricken awesome! Makes me wanna upgrade pumps for that higher pressure fuel on the race tune! I would think it would burn much better
