So what is everyones opinion on the best tire for the DPC? I have always wondered what would be the best. Didn't the guy with the Dodge that won it last year just run Nitto Terra Grapplers? I have always thought about the BFG AT as a good all around tire, how do they hook on the street? They would work good in the pull. What about Dune Grapplers?

BFG AT's would be a good tire for all around... but they should be able to tell you what the pulling track is going to be like. Clay, sand etc..

Most of the pull tracks in KY pack down very hard however if they have it at the fairgrounds like last, that is not one of the better tracks and doesn't pack down as tight as some. I don't know where they're pulling at this year though as TS isn't at the fairgrounds this year so not sure if DPC is either. If it's where TS is pulling this year, that track does pack down tight & you'd be more likely to do alright with a more street tread type tire like the nitto terra grappler whereas you'll want something more aggressive like a bfg at if it's at the fairgrounds.

Hell, I've seen eric merchant come down here & sled pull with a set of proxes st tires & hold his own because the track was so hard the tires almost sqealed from traction ( & some tracks leave black marks where u finish)

If it were me though, a new or fair new set of bfg at is what I'd be running. Plenty have gone fast with them at the track. They are an excellent pulling tire for most types of tracks except greasy or wet and they have good road manners.

Best of luck gentlemen!

Its pretty funny that 40 year old fat guys can feel like a kid on Christmas morning over a phone call, but damn, I'm looking forward to this. I kind of lost the diesel bug over this long, ridiculous Ohio winter, but its back in full force now. Sure will be good to meet some of you Western states guys. Jeff...........sorry for the mental and physical anguish you are about to go through.:D

Thats too bad Bigbird... would have been cool to meet you.

I think that the widest tire you can get on your truck is the best. As demonstrated last year by Matt Gainer. Had he not had wheel bearing issues i think he would have taken it. Taking that into consideration something lighter like a D range tire would do better since due to liability concerns, nitto will only outfit you with E range. IMO.

BFG AT would get my vote. On EDIT: The MT's may not be a bad choice either. They are pretty soft and might give better traction-A little heavier than the AT's though which could affect the mileage and strip numbers.

That's too bad Kelly. Some Canadian representation would have been sweet!!:Canada_Flag:

Before I decided to withdraw my application I was going to go back with a set of siped MT drag radials and another set of street tires, either AT or the Dune Grabbers. If the track was hard and tight the drag raidals were going on. Just happen to have a set we ran on Max'd Out last year and was going to sipe them for the DPC is chosen.

I agree with others BFG AT "E" rated try 12inch width. The e rate will net better mileage and you can soften them for the strip. They also pull really well.

if you can get silent armors in a d rating, id get them in like a 305/70 if possible. i love those tires, they would do well on a semi loose track and a hard track and they are siped so asphalt performance isnt bad at all.
