I always thought it should be run on the same weekend as an event, say a Fri & Sat. Use some of the events as fillers between the drag races & sled pulls.
It would save them money on the track/sled/dyno rentals & like mentioned have spectators allowed in.

One thing make sure you send your application to their new address, I sent in my application to the address on their website and got it back as Address Not Known,

Postal worker must have had a bad day and didn't feel like looking up the forwarding address. Their new address and the one you should sent it to is;

I think i'm going to put in for it as well.... Just to see. Doubt i'd get picked for it, but if i did it'd be fun to see how the old dually stacked up after adding a 'bit' more fuel and changing the turbos around a little :D

I agree, how many would be there anyway? The results get out, it's now like it's a big secret.

I believe if they will give everybody a heads up on when there having it, as many diesel rednecks there are around here id say there would be alot of ppl show up and just let us watch the drag race, trailer tow, dyno and sled pull and have dunbar bring his dyno so you could watch 3 events right there at beech bend, and if they would give the crowd like a list of the drivers and there setups like they show in diesel power mag it would be a great learning tool for ppl who is starting out because you could see what is working and what aint and me personaly id rather give them $25 to watch the event then give them $25 for there shity dvds

what are you planning now :confused:

LOL...

dual fuelers (DANG IT!! Didn't want to have to do this....), some changes on the exhaust side, and a different top turbo (changing the VVT to a different VVT bigger on the exhaust side, and if the funds can support it, possibly waste-gating the VVT as well).

Need to get to the 12.0 index class reliably for the other events i plan to hit this year... tired of running the ET only brackets, and would like to win some more money... single fueler in this heavy girl just aint got enough to get 'er done - try as i might. At least not at my elevation, might do a couple tenths better elsewhere, but still not enough for here.

Well - my hope is i dont need to - but if i can't come up with the new turbo that has a bigger exhaust side than my current Danville Stage 2, i'll be forced to wastegate it as it is a huge restriction in the upper RPMs - especially throwing on dual fuelers - any VVT is IMO.

Currently i don't feel as though i'm able to drive my big charger as hard as it should be becaue of this restriction, and throwing more fuel is just going to further compound the problem - raising drive pressure above where it is now, which is already a touch on the high side. The goal is to make sure that when the motor is in its upper RPMs - as much exhaust energy and flow as possible reaches the big charger, as that is where the bigger and more efficient air comes from in the upper RPMs. Having a restriction right in front of the big charger is not going to let it live up to it's "potential".

I'm probably one of the weird guys on here, along with one or two others - but in performance apps, i'm very much of the mindset that better exhaust flow gives better gains than an equal improvement on the intake side (obviously after a certain point - or in the upper RPMs). ie: a 5 PSI reduction in drive pressure is going to yield more power overall than a 5 PSI increase in boost.... of course, usually changing one has an effect on the other - so improving drive pressure (decreasing it) is going to increase airflow on the "in" side - or at the very least, help to produce that same airflow in a different area of the turbos map - which is hopefully towards the more efficient areas of that turbos map.

Not sure if i'm making any sense - i don't always explain great - but i will take another stab at what i'm trying to say in a PM if you want me to.

You make some great points, should pass them on to the DP Challenge folks.

Use the new address.:D
I only attended one event in SLC as crew to Idaho Rob and it went a little slow, there were no races per say, just guys making runs and waiting around to see if their time would be beat then a flurry of runs toward the end of the timed hour set aside for the drags to try and better thier times. If TS is giong to have their sled pulls 20 miles away I wonder if that is the same place the DPC people will be pulling? It's a long haul for the western guys picked, wished they could find a more central location, like Kansas.

One of the complaints I've heard from competitors over the years is they don't always stick strictly to their own rules with I think is wrong. If there is any rule bending to be made it should be voted on by the other competitors to allow it or not.

Yeah they need to stick to there own rules I know at the Outlaw pull TS has in the spring I know of about 20 trucks they sent home because they didnt have 2 bolts crossed in there exhaust which was a bummer because it ruined there whole trip Diesel Power could make the event more better to suit the crowd and make it easier on the competitors so they could enjoy it but if they wanna keep it a private event then owell all I know is that in late august Schied Diesel Extravaganza is hands down the best event I have ever been too
