I'm not sure what happened last year, but there were some bending of the stated rules the year before. Need to stick to the rules as stated no matter what they are. I think the dyno should include hp as well as torque, say add them together fot a total number The fuel economy run should count, and not just as a tie breaker. The same person should drive the truck in all events, by this I mean the person who dyno's the truck should be the same person who drives in the other events. If you miss an event you are out of the overall competition, and no delaying events waiting for someone to get it fixed. Stick to the time schedule. What are your thought Jess?
in my experience the problems with last years challenge was the time and scheduale issue.we were told to draw numbers for the order of the trailer tow.the order was run for a few trucks then it was ok anybody just come hook up and run the trailer tow.it also took way longer than the time alloted.every one drove thier own truck at all time during this event.as far as fuel economy counting for the event and not a tie breaker i am for the way it is know, and it kept me out of third place.i never built a truck to try for fuel economy other there were trying to get thier best numbers i never cared about mileage.it was bothersome that the guy who beat me for mileage ask the DP staff to not over fill his tank or fuel would run out of his bulk head fitting he added for his new fuel pickup, while mine was filled to the point of leaking all under the truck were i parked at the fair grounds.i could have complained but honestly 4th was no different than 3rd.i missed the set up on the drag track and never recovered from there.i didnt feel i deserved to win.as far as adding tq and hp numbersi am for the old way .i placed like 6th in tq but made well over 100 hp more than some of the competitors who place above me.my gripe with the dyno was we were told not to ride the breaks and load the trucks our selfs i didnt do it at first but eventually tried.didnt work cause i spun the tires o the roller when i got the turbos lite before the run started.o well its no ones fault that my truck didnt respond on the dyno.i dont think it is right for dmaxes or psds to use dyno tunes that lock trucks in specific gears just for dynoing but there arnt any rules against it so it made sense for some to use it.
rules and time lines need to be followed period.id like to see the 2nd place finisher asked back to next years event.i think they should send in an app,in my opinion the win was thiers.not trying to take anything from Robert but if we hadnt of stood around killing time for him and others to fix he would have missed the trailer tow and though he still could have finished the rest of the events wouldnt have won.
i think hoodstacks shouldnt be allowed and if the rules that were sent out in the email were followed i wonder if a kentucky dmv would have let it drive down the road.if it is legal and was insured and tagged like it was supposed to be great.there was alot of questions among competitiors, rumors about things that dont really matter know, point is if the rules were followed and we had to provide license registration and insurance info and that be followed,a lot of doubts would have been answerd. no offence to the red truck, dont know you but your truck raised questions that if rules were followed wouldnt have been there.
it is a great event ,and sponsors and competitors are trying to be made happy,it will only happen if rules are followed to a t no exceptions.jmho...
