Great thread guys! I don't know who most of these people are/were, but I really enjoy learning about how things have evolved and how far they've come.

History gets a little twisted after a while. Some of you guys have hero's and want to believe in their greatness. Some of these comments are not true. I was there in the begining before there was transgo and triple lock converters and Alto clutches. I was on the phone every day with the true inovators learning and sharing info. Some of the names above were hacks. Tomac was one of the good guys.

The same can be said for Ryan uptegraft in KY. He put the dmax on the map back when his A5K single cp3 truck was beating George Peterson's dodge. I decided then that I would build a dmax truck if I ever had a pull truck. Still trying to make that happen. :D

Ryan was the main reason I wanted a D-max. That thing was beating everybody back in the day.

I remember Ryan Uptegrath and Micheal Tomac were some of the first big name pullers putting duramaxes on the map.

Didnt realize Uptegraft was such a big name. I thought he was only big n KY.

well I was still in middle school when the dmax came out in late 2000, haha.

I would have been a freshman in high school.

I remember hearing rumors of a Cat diesel or a John Deere diesel before the release of the Isuzu. Might have been a small town thing back in the day

I was in the 5th grade lol

I saw an episode on trucks TV where stacy david put propane and a banks kit on the dmax and he was just roasting the tires. I knew i had to have one from then on but i had to wait until 2009 to actually buy one.

I remember the defining moment in d-max history for me. It was somewhere around early 07, and the LMM's hadn't been out long. I didn't have a diesel and had almost talked myself into buying a 6.0L (I know, I know:eek:). So I was reading on Comp-D and there was a kid from who knows where with a lmm that had mpi twins(unrealeased that anyone could verify), a So-Cal stroker motor (again just hit the market), EFI live and all the other good stuff. Every one was calling bs and all he could produce was a crappy cell pick of the truck. Then someone said "Some of McRat's goons are gonna ride up and drive it or kick his ass." At that moment I wanted to be one of McRat's goons. So I googled the name, found their website and that in turn led me here. Been here ever since, the rest is history.

Joe Webb? I never had the pleasure of doing any business with him, but I heard nothing but good things about him.

Smoop was my close friend. I started every day with a phone call to him or his call to me. RIP Joe Webb. There will never be another like you.
Steve Cole refused to shake his hand. Smoop called me about this. Smoop put his hand out first and introduced himself and the PS kept his hand at his side. FU Steve Cole.

In 2004, I was heavily into GM late model hotrodding for fun.

I autocrossed and drag-raced GM cars.

I bought Big Blue on special order and it was one of the first batches of LLY's.

It was to be used to replace my E350 tow vehicle.

Once I got Blue, I started boosting the power a bit. Then somebody said the LLY could never match the LB7 for performance. I always like a good challenge.

So I did my best to push LLY (and then LBZ) performance.

I tested all the variation tuning solutions for the LLY's. I finally took a PPE handheld, + a Van AAken box + Boost Controller, and finally got a "bolt-on" LLY into the 12's on fuel with a 12.86 at HRP in Texas at the DHRA Nationals.

If I would have only stopped there ....

Yes, Casper hasn't raced in 2 years now. But this winter I'm bringing it back out finally. That Land Speed Racing stuff was brutal.

So Casper is coming back in what form? LSR, Drag, Puller, DD ???? In any form, good to hear.
