Great thread guys! I don't know who most of these people are/were, but I really enjoy learning about how things have evolved and how far they've come.

The same can be said for Ryan uptegraft in KY. He put the dmax on the map back when his A5K single cp3 truck was beating George Peterson's dodge. I decided then that I would build a dmax truck if I ever had a pull truck. Still trying to make that happen.
I remember Ryan Uptegrath and Micheal Tomac were some of the first big name pullers putting duramaxes on the map.
well I was still in middle school when the dmax came out in late 2000, haha.

I would have been a freshman in high school.
I remember hearing rumors of a Cat diesel or a John Deere diesel before the release of the Isuzu. Might have been a small town thing back in the day

I think the CAT rumor was flying everywhere I remember hearing it to.

In 2004, I was heavily into GM late model hotrodding for fun.
I autocrossed and drag-raced GM cars.
I bought Big Blue on special order and it was one of the first batches of LLY's.
It was to be used to replace my E350 tow vehicle.
Once I got Blue, I started boosting the power a bit. Then somebody said the LLY could never match the LB7 for performance. I always like a good challenge.
So I did my best to push LLY (and then LBZ) performance.
I tested all the variation tuning solutions for the LLY's. I finally took a PPE handheld, + a Van AAken box + Boost Controller, and finally got a "bolt-on" LLY into the 12's on fuel with a 12.86 at HRP in Texas at the DHRA Nationals.
If I would have only stopped there ....
Yes, Casper hasn't raced in 2 years now. But this winter I'm bringing it back out finally. That Land Speed Racing stuff was brutal.
