HAHAHA!! This is all too funny, good reading though. I bought my truck in 07 had an Edge and MBRP exhaust in my living room before I had a truck picked out. I thought it was fast then, I stacked a Superchips with the edge and ran a 13.94 didn't even know enough to lower the torsion bars. The Duramax world sure has come a long way. Hopefully they keep us moving in that direction.:thumb:

Wow yeah...lots of flashbacks/throwbacks.

I was one of the original EFILive beta testers back in late 2005, fun times destroying my stock turbo when I stacked EFILive with my old Edge. Bobo, myself, and IdahoRob were the first people in the country to have an EFILive-tuned LLY. :D

PPE vs. QUAD!!!!
the old PPE TECH IV programmer

The diesel PAGE.

Roger Zeedyke having the first LLY with a big aftermarket turbo. I believe myself and McRat were the second/third people to put an aftermarket turbo on an LLY, as far as I know??? Farmboystoy used an A5k, McRat and I used a modified LB7 BD turbo kit.

HeartbeatCanada blowing his up and cracking the webbing in the block (I dont know if anyone has done that since him, must have been a fluke/casting flaw).

FRANK (onefst2003), what happened to him?

Frank (mrmagu) being the first person to window an LLY, running propane and nitrous. He blew up at about the 1000' mark and coasted to a 13 flat I think.

The "BIG SECRET" MPI twins. Juice, Subman had the first LB7 twins...Chad Simper had the first LLY twins.

DTT allisons. HA!

Going for my first ride in a dmax that was more than just a chip/exhaust. Diesel Dragon's 03 EC/LB dually with a TTS extreme and Suncoast III

Dipper getting one of the first LLY's in the country.

When no one had had LB7 injector problems (because no one had put enough miles on them yet)

SOUP!

When Tony still had his TTS pom-poms. :p: :D

bastard stack

triple stack of doom

When I did the big lux nav write-up, thanks to advice from "Sperry" on Chevy Avalanche Fan Club (RIP Sperry)

Ratlover and his "quantity over quality" opinion on girls. :D
Ratlover's "11 second plow truck"

Propane injection!!!!

People thought the LB7 was the "end-all be-all" of duramax performance, that no other generation could be made fast

P1093's!

Merchant's first "Spring Fling", back when EVERYONE was friends and there were no "cliques" in the dmax community.

Eric overnighting me an allison bell housing

I put an Edge on my truck back in mid 05 and thought it was the fastest thing on 4 wheels

NLDP ALMOST making it into the 10's, stock long block. They setup for a 10 second pass and the output shaft broke.

When people thought Keith Bachler (nasty girl) wasnt serious about building his dmax, I remember Trey (gmc2500HD) calling BS that he even had a dmax.

McRat doing 755rwhp on stock sticks

Back in early 05, Guy throwing ideas around about "what if we ran a second CP3 off the belt for more fuel?", and someone else told him "thats ridiculous, that will never work, the belt will slip"

HOOT!!!!

The first set of crower rods, and how they "sometimes" werent all the same length

The first set of carillo rods

The first set of duramax tuner rods

People said the LLY would "never make big power"

EFILive said they "were not going to do any development on supporting the LBZ"

First time I saw an LBZ in person, couldnt believe how quiet it was (Jesse, GMCTRUCK, at the Jannetty dyno day)

When I was the first person to fry an LLY ECM so badly that it had to be sent to Ross at EFILive and be disassembled to be repaired.

TeamHertz

When the A5k was the only aftermarket turbo

Van Aaken!

Im sure Ill think of more things...

Dont forget about FredW, Ratlover, TeamHertz, BigD

No love for Importkilla?:woott:

I still remember the phone call (I think fall 06). "Come help me push this out of the staging lane. I just did a free rev and now I have a huge puddle of oil under the truck". Edgewater was pissed!:roflmao: New inspection window in the block. Homebuilt twins (HX60 and stocker) into hoodstack, single stock CP3, flaring ATS trans, Fass 95 and a guy not scared to drive it. 12.43 at IRP in 05.

Oh, and the drifting video is edging closer to a million views.:thumb:

And still holder of fastest stock trans pass for stock Dmax (not a rcsb or any other transplant BS).

Like Heyob said earlier, that truck was the whole reason I got into diesels. I blame it now!!

What happened to that guy? He kind of fell off the face of the planet as far as Duramaxes go. He was the first guy to really go big with an LBZ as far as I remember. I think he was part of Tony B's camp, wasn't he?

Wait, you know someone who is running a stack on an LMM? New one on me.

I remember going to my buddies house after school (freshman year of high school) to check out his dads brand new 2001 Duramax. Nobody was home, so we took it out for a drive. There was 6 of us in the truck, nobody w/ a license. We thought just the stock truck was so bad ass. Those were the days. LOL

My question is what was everyone doing before the Dmax? Mike L, Big Dipper, Guy, McRats, Idaho Rob, Ben, ect, ect. Many peoples main business is something with the Dmax/Allison now - what was it before. Some other type of performance? Diesel or gas? Cummins, Powerstroke ect. Or were they doing something completely different. Also those who aren't in the business, what were they racing/pulling before, if they were racing/pulling anything at all.

Keep up the good posts. History is awesome when it is something you are interested in. It really has come along HUGE in a short time.

Yeah look at Tony now. He retired on top and we are still chasing dreams.

I remember the secret Mcrat forum and people trying sneak in.
The 20-20 tune
DP 4.3
7 hole injectors
When Abby was a farm truck
DIY modified regulators
When Trent had 20" dc1's and towed a 40' camper everywhere he went

He is actually pulling the motor in his 01 to do headgaskets right now.;)

What about Ed Wayne and Kyle Michael?

Ric Scimmager is still out there. According to a recent post, he is tuning Climax.

I saw that post...I knew I recognized the net handle :D

Ed parted out his GMC from his posts on here. I remember him towing a camper to an event in PA, putting slicks on and racing, then hanging weights and pulling two classes, then hooking the camper back up and heading home. That pass on Passtime really turned some heads too. :D

Ben's post sure brought back some old DP memories. Hoot method, juice grips and whatnot.

Locally, I have to give credit to jeramoosh...he put the Dmax on the map around here.

The same can be said for Ryan uptegraft in KY. He put the dmax on the map back when his A5K single cp3 truck was beating George Peterson's dodge. I decided then that I would build a dmax truck if I ever had a pull truck. Still trying to make that happen. :D

Ric is still around, and tunes a few pullers. His old truck still pulls out east.

Kyle Micheals was def on the leading edge of power with a dmax, he wasnt talking about running twin cp3s in 05, he was doing it!

I remember Ryan Uptegrath and Micheal Tomac were some of the first big name pullers putting duramaxes on the map.

I like the history lesson. To think I bought a new Duramax in 02 and I never even started modding until 07. I think dial up internet saved me a lot of money. LOL
