Is the life of the tcc solenoid measured in minutes? Hours? I guess not knowing any better I thought that I could just flip the switch and lock the tc whenever I wanted at any speed and for however long I wanted like the chummins guy do.

Just use it as intended...drag racing or sled pulling and you will be fine.

DHD 6-speed locker works great. Easy to follow directions, make for an easy install. TQ locks when commanded and un-locks when commanded.

I know someone who did the same thing tonys kit does and has been fine for 3 years.....

Could that be this guy? I have had mine set up like that for 3 years racing, sled pulling, a dd driving in the oil fields. I can push my button to lock it up and it won't do anything tell its in second gear. I can be sitting still with it in drive and hit the button, the truck won't do anything. I don't force lock up while I'm dd, only at sled track and drag track. some times when taking people for rides.

I just placed an order and I am curious when I should be locking the converter. I will be pulling this weekend with third gear start tune. I'm assuming I leave the line unlocked and flip the switch once I get up to rpm or what? My biggest concern is that I need to force unlock at the end of the track.

As soon as you pass the tree lock it.

I'm pulling this weekend but will be using it at the track too. Will it lock the converter in first or can I flip it the second I let off the brake so it locks instantly once it shifts to second?

Yes you can flip it as soon as you let off the brake. Sometimes you do get a code and have to clear it because it won't let you back up. It never did it when I had the early 01 OS Tcm tune in my truck but not that I out my stock 05 tune back in it, it does it.

It won't lock in first but it may not help, it may bog your small charger a bit when it locks at the bottom of second.

I believe that TCC lock is not possible in first gear.

Power can be added to the TCC solenoid in first gear but because of the way Allison designed the flow of oil pressure, no pressure is available for the TCC solenoid to control until second gear.
