First dmax crank I have seen with the break following the fillet all the way around.
Sent on the run from my Cell Phone
I'm wondering how many of the breaks had anything to do with water methonal injection. I had a snow system installed on mine about 10 months prior to busting the crank, and I'm pretty sure I cracked it soon after it was installed by doing a boosted launch (something really weird happend anyway). I babied her for the next 10 months or so until she died driving on the freeway.
Anyway, I know my snow system was installed incorrectly at first. Mechnaics had it plumbed wrong and I am pretty sure the amounts going into the differnt intakes were incorrect. I'm sure that whatever problems DMax cranks have that any imbalance in the water/methanol can really compound it quickly.
Anyway, I'm going to get rid of my snow prior to running her again. The rebuild is about to start.
Is there a running list or is anyone keeping track of what engine models are failing the most? LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML ? It seems to me this started with the LMM engines.
I broke one modified stock crank and cracked a billet Crower one that can't be fixed and I've never run water meth at all.
I know that being in a competitive sport like drag racing or sled pulling where we all continue to push are vehicles harder and harder is gonna break parts here and there and I'm not complaining about the cranks I've ruined doing it but what really gets me is these trucks aren't cheap by any means and you have stock trucks with broke cranks. That's pretty upsetting and to be honest it's kinda got me wondering if my lbz to rig is gonna last or take a crap on me. I'm really glad that guys like fingers and many others on here are doing everything they can to try and figure out how to stop these problems. Thank you to everyone who's contributed all the good information on here it's really taught me a lot.
