I do know if my truck was on fire I'd be running around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to put it out. I did have a diesel shop pm me today and say they sold a built motor to a new customer who had planned on buying it from Kyle before he read the thread. That makes me extra happy.
PS -
If your truck is primarily a racing truck with an aftermarket turbo, remove the hood liner, the firewall liner, plastic fender liners, and leave on all the heat shields you can. You might even want to protect your fusebox. This is to resist fires and minimize damage should a fire occur.
Im by no means sticking up for Kyle for what he did, that is bullshit, and im sure it would work out for the better for Dave cause that truck would only be good for a 3.0 or unlimited single class with a stock drivetrain rule and the stock transfer case back in it... i believe the rear end is strong enough to handle with the upgrades available, but thats no odl truck.. With that being said, if someone came up to me with a camera after my truck had caught fire at a national event to make fun of me, i would probably say the same thing! My truck has caught fire many of times, and i never ran away crying... it happens, especially in sled pulling. Im not saying Kyle is a good guy, or he runs a good business, but i would hardly call him an idiot when it comes to the duramax... he has gave me a lot of good info, and he was pulling at a 3.0/pro street level when most were just trying to figure out how to mount aftermarket chargers... Im pretty sure he was the first to run 2 cp3s long before ppe and ATS came out with the kit. Now Dave, im not sticking up for kyle or trying to ruin your thread, what he did to you is bs, and it needed to be heard... but like i said, you were better off.
I think most people agree with you on Kyle knowing his stuff, the problem is when you run a business you should follow a code of ethics. I did not take any offence to your post. It takes alot of time to earn respect and a very short time to loose it.
being in the construction business i know this all to well and its a shame it is that way on the business side what he did to you is inexcuseable. i've had that happen to me a few years ago i bought a 70 chevelle guy on the phone told me on price i get to his house forsale sign in back of the car said 5 grand less than he told me so i said somethin we agreed upon the 25,000 for the car i gave him the bank check which would take 48hours to clear he called me 2 days later saying no deal he wasn't selling me the car anymore..found out later he sold the car for 28,000 to someone else...It takes alot of time to earn respect and a very short time to loose it.

General rule of thumb for all internal combustion automotive devices, especially competition vehicles:
When you are on fire, or see people with fire extinguishers running up to you, get the fk out of the vehicle. Staring blindly off into space just makes more work for the emergency crew.
