At your power level you are probably alright... Its when you get to that 600-650+ range Atleast that's my experience

it will depend on truck weight, tire size and power level when you really get down to it but 600 seems to be the general spot.

Steve,

Did my truck get this update when socal bench flashed my ecm? I havent had any issues with t/c lock up yet. Seems to do really well if it doesnt have this update.

Agree with the posts above generally, also it was not available at that time. :(

So if your trans is doing what it should, you are still golden.

I did nothing but click "disable" on the TCC parameters and it locks nice and firm. I noticed that the two A40 LBZ OS's have different ways of disabling the TCC slip unlock.

15827766 has table D5233 only

10377105 has table D5231 only

I would assume that on d5231 you would max the table out to not allow it unlock when slip is detected.

ok.....I still dont see the point in going through the trouble of downgrading the software......

Why are people you tune for still using the older software??? Are they really that afraid of updating? Like its a big deal to update to the newer software? Maybe we should uninstall windows 7 and go back to windows 98. I mean windows 98 worked fine, didnt it?

And the "US software restrictions"...it doesnt effect you since you dont tune LML's. Or is it just the "idea" that "THE MAN" is "invading" your software annoy you enough to actually want to uninstall it.

Im just saying, there are always tons of stability improvements, table description revisions, scan tool improvements "under the surface" of newer software versions that improve everything. Especially updates to the V2 firmware and boot block. And the scan tool has lots of improvements too.

I dunno, obviously its your choice, but to me it just seems silly to not update (and actually go through the trouble of downgrading) when there so many other improvements besides the lockup tables.

The change to .CTZ files makes sense too...since you cant black-box-flash .tun files anyway, so theres no reason to still use .tun files IMO.

It's not that big of a deal to downgrade to me. A few minutes to uninstall, reinstall the old software I have saved, and then pull up the email where I have my V2 info stored to put into the software. And I'm not a fan of "THE MAN" as you put it, because if down the road they DO block all emissions deletes, them I'm one step closer to it being there. I work mostly with LB7's, so I still see no reason TO upgrade it. My ONLY reason for it was to be able to access the lockup tables, and since that isn't part of it, I have NO reason to stay with the new software with files I CAN'T share with others I do tunes for.

And I have no problems with dropping the >TUN files, it was teh fact they made ALL of the new files no longer work in the older versions I don't like. I've been using .CTZ's for awhile now, so that isn't a big change. If it hadn't been for that one detail they divulged, I would stay with the new software on my flashing laptop, but since the new .ctz files will no longer work in the older software, I'm downgrading.

D5073 & D5074 allow you to set the converter to unlock based on throttle position. Setting them at 100% disables that feature since you can never exceed 100%. D5075 is the same thing for 4 low. Since the stock tune never locks in 4 low that being at 0% keeps it unlocked at all times. Somebody will be kind enough to correct me if I'm wrong here.

What is the most favored 02 TCM operating system? It would be nice to have ODLO back

Yes, the '5854 early 2001 OS that shifts flawlessly does support ODLO via a switch that you wire up to one of the TCM connectors.

But then again, the awesome '5854 OS doesnt have the lockup tables mapped...so its pointless.... :(
