Yes, the '5854 early 2001 OS that shifts flawlessly does support ODLO via a switch that you wire up to one of the TCM connectors.

But then again, the awesome '5854 OS doesnt have the lockup tables mapped...so its pointless.... :(

 whats the OS that came out in 01.5 for the tcm cause i had no ODLO after i installed a switch and light till i went into the dealer and had the latest 2881 flashed in to activate it.

15077860 is one of the oldest 2001 OS's, with no overdrive lockout enabled

15175854 was the first TCM update that GM enabled ODLO on. It is also the one that shifts awesome with big power. It does NOT have the TCC protection tables mapped.

So if '5854 has the TCC tables mapped, it would be "the one" for all 5-speeds to run. But it doesnt, go figure.

So take your pick....a TCM that shifts flawlessly all the time, or a TCM that locks the converter properly/on time.

So answer this...just how crappy does an 05 lly tcm OS shift compared to the flawless 01 tcm os? I've always thought my lly shifted rather nice but then I hear people say the 01 os is a world of difference.

I need to get my autocal up and running so I can play around with OS's.

Mike, my 01 lb7 with said OS, shifts WAY better than my 04 LLY Ever did. They both had SCV built trans.

I ran the 01 for a couple years, but then I went big single and wanted my ODLO back.

Didn't really notice a difference in shifting, but like always stuff just plain works the way it should on my truck.

oooohhhh that makes sense.

ive tried the 01 vs my 02 back when i was on stock turbo only and DSP5. i noticed no difference but at the time i was fighting some major defuel issues that neither of my two tuners at the time could fix. they were trying to run without defuel on the truck and the bang i would get from 3-4 damn near destroyed my trans.

i might try an 01 if it comes out with the TCC tables but i really dont have much issue with my current OS. i can drive like a granny for a few days and get into it the next and it clicks shifts right off.

I actually just tested this to see if it was all in my head, and because I wanted to try this tcc lockup thing. I used my 05 lly tcm tune. Shifted great, eased onto the throttle and it still shifted great. Wide open and it was perfect. Then I went back to driving normally, shifted like ass, flared every shift for about 25 miles, then shifted great again. Go wide open from there and it shifted terribly. Remember this was all in one tune.

The 01 doesn't do that. I get it learned and it is great in every one of my tunes. It doesn't try to learn as much I guess. I have gone from a 400 hp Street tune to a 600hp race tune and it shifts the exact same.

Needless to say the 01 tune is back in. Good thing I have a lock box.

Well i never switch tunes anyways, always on my biggest. I drive agressive enough that It always stays learned I guess. Cause I never have weird shifts or anything to complain about. It just always shifts great. 01 os probably wouldn't benefit me. But it's worth a try to see if i notice anything different.

I just updated my software and read my TCM file. Are any of you guys changing the T/H second gear lockup mph, or just mostly disabling the slip limit?

And also, the regular shift point MPH doesn't line up with what I see driving my truck around. Its off by 3-4 mph, is this because the ECM is calibrated for bigger tires but the TCM never was? This is actually my first time even looking at a TCM file so forgive my ignorance... :)

Last question I swear! Have there been any ill effects of changing the TCC slip limits on a stock converter???

Your truck is just to slow that's why it shifts flawless. Lol jk, you have a stout truck. when I ran my stock Tcm tune I never had problems with it, then lee (catman) told me to try the 01 OS, so I did. It shifted a lot firmer and just felt better all around. I have been running ever since and I love it. Now that the lockup table are available I believe I'll go back to my stock Tcm tune since I never had problems with it.

You bastard:D

Once I get my autocal setup I will give it a try and see the differences.

WOWZERS!! Used my buddies v2 and a tcm license and made my own tcm tune from my original stock 05 os. I disabled converter slip all together and raised the shift points to 3700 rpm...its safe to say I can get rid of my lock up box. It works absolutely flawless. I still need to log it to do some final tweaking but it is awesome.

First tune ive ever made, and after a few revisions it works like a boss. Im way stoked!

That worked for you? Just disabling it? Mine ran like crap when I just disabled it. It would lock barely going and be a slug.

Mine works just like Mike says. I went racing last weekend & made several 12.3 runs & never touched the lock up box. I've tuned other 5 speed & 6 speed tcm's with the same results.

I'm loving it! One less thing to worry about at the line. The tune totally takes care of the converter lock. I ran in 2 classes so they kept me hot lapping. Tranny was at 215 & no lock up issues.

been driving mine all week (its been sitting since we did the tune) and love it! lock up isnt instant but i wouldnt want it to be, give the turbos just enough time to light and keep me from smoking everyone out. truck runs so much cleaner now at WOT you would think its stock :woott:
