Considering buying a RCLB

My truck is going under the knife and I will end up with a huge surplus of parts. I will pretty much have everything I need to build a 500hp truck aside from a lift pump, gauges, and a refreshed trans. I found a 2005 rclb LLY with 200k on it. Kid says it was a shop truck and runs and drives nice. Rockers have a tiny bit of rust but otherwise it's clean. I told him $4000 as long as the balance rates are in spec. Seems like a good deal. Especially considering the amount of parts I have. Could probably do a little work and flip it for 8-10k. Am I wrong?

I think with my intake, egr delete and, ic piping, down pipe, exhaust and trans it would move right along. All I need to buy is an efi live license and an air dog.

My biggest concern is my self control. Knowing that my drivetrain in this truck would put it well into the tens would be a big temptation

Dale, I think I will just put new clutches in my current trans and put that in the regular cab and use the rc trans as the core for my truck. The only parts I was reusing was the valve body and shift kit and they are cheap enough.

After having my truck there is no way if be happy with tranny safe tuning. Should be cheap enough to refresh it and swap then.

That's another benefit. I figure I've seen enough trucks built that I can do some tasteful mods and enjoy driving this truck daily. With the parts I've already got I should only have to put another couple grand into it to have a real quick and half decent looking truck. I guess that's all the convincing I need. I'll post pics from my driveway in the next day or two haha

I've always wanted to make my lb7 into the play toy but I always told myself I'd wait till the stock trans gives up.. and after many 13.5 passes and tons on street racing it still kicks. But none the less that RC should be fun.
