It was mentioned earlier.... looks to be modeled after the original yet made from cast AL. So it probably inherits the poor flow qualities. Larry has had good luck with a mod'd one though.

I'm going to the LBZ style to test it now, I think the cast one right now is helping keep the IAT's higher than I'd like, Might even go as far as throwing in a complete Banks LBZ intake with the turbo inlet. The past week in the upper 90's low 100's temps is activating the fan clutch some, I'd like to get away from it.

Ordered my inlet today :D Going with a modded LBZ air box also

Got Honey?
Makes great sense with additional W/I boss etc..

Material.... ABS plastic? Less thermal conductivity.. right?

Brayden

too much exposure to heat, ABS would not survive me thinks. The original is Zytel. I think cast aluminum is the only practical way to go. I'm not even a little worried about conductivity, at air speeds of 100 mph.

If there is another material suggestion, I am all open to ideas I may not have thought of.

If anyone wants to borrow an LBZ turbo inlet pipe for testing before they buy one, I'll loan mine out to whoever wants to pay for shipping. It's sitting in a box in storage right now along with the rest of the intake.

Compressor Efficiency

Hello KB and Brayden:
I had thought of using it to make an intake a while ago. However I did a Google search on the the melting point of ABS and found that the melting point is 212* F. The max temp is 176*F.
Here is the link to the site which has that info. http://www.dynalabcorp.com/technical_info_abs.aspfo.
Under those temps, the ABS wouldn't survive.
Back to the drawing board for more ideas.

Installed complete stock LBZ intake today (turbo inlet fits pretty [tight] but well), it deffintly feels better and it cleaned up a bunch of smoke. My laptop is screwed up so I cant log anything and compare anything at all though. Looks like I'll just have to hit the track instead!

Thanks for the info.:) Are you running a LBZ inlet now and if so have you done the recalibration?

It may CODE but I dont think I'll have a limp condition with it, I shut down/ increased about all of the fuel limiting engine protection ETC.

I have the updated tables that GM used when they thought the were fixing the overheating LLY by putting this setup on. Mine does not code anymore...or hasn't yet
