On another note,

I believe Jason is the quickest one to build a motor. from join date to dead motor took no time at all haha

Never thought a website could cost you so much damn money huh

I certainly was hoping for longevity and wouldn't bet against anyone because I don't want the luck myself. Awful to hear but I'm sure once it's done this time you'll love to be able to turn the wick up

Thanks for that;) I personally wouldn't want or bet for it to happen to anyone either:)

Damn I'm good. 60 overs and a big VGT on a stock motor was asking for it lol

At least you have a little while before the wife breathes fire down your throat when she sees the bill. It was great knowing you man :roflmao:

It's still your fault:rofl:

I'm actually kinda surprised, I mean, I was running a stock pump and tunes (or a tune at the time) that wasn't supposed to be any more powerful than what I was previously running...

It's the chance I took tho, I knew the consequences:baby:

Are you married? Cuz if you are, you surely know she's gonna keep me around now, she's gonna have allot of catching up to do, years worth of the "honey do" list, new shoes, purses, and probably some jewelry, yeah, this is a long term investment for her too ;)

For the record.

I was running tunes from DuramaxTuner, not that I think it's their fault....the truck was running really well, till it wasnt:spit:

Blowing a motor up is the best excuse to build one. That is the glass half full way to look at things haha

Lol, that could possibly (probably) be paralleled to my lack of common sense too;)

Nope, I would have never imagined the cost involved to be this great, when I joined, I thought 25k would build me the baddest duramax ever:roflmao:

I just got a quote for an engine build for 19k...it was extensive:D
I'm not willing to disclose what I've got into this rig so far...

But the way I see it, I could buy a new, completely stock truck, for the cost I'll have into my completely built truck, soo, I'm o.k with that...:)

Blowing a motor up is the best excuse to build one. That is the glass half full way to look at things haha

True, true

Despite all the challenges in my life...My cup runneth over man, I'm a lucky dude!

I owned my truck for 14 months with no problems then signs of injectors failing and a water pump has started the domino effect of full build. They always said build it right the first time to save hassle. Well I started out basic upgrades while it was apart and over the course more and more is added to the mix. Few months after it went down I have a pile of parts waiting to be installed but I know it'll be done once and I can do whatever with it

I blame you.....:roflmao:

Save the

"I told ya so's"... Cuz the engine Melted a piston last night:eek:

Is that a record? 9 days....:baby:

F

Well, my wife is actually "o.k"
So far...but as soon as it come time to pay the bill...the fit will hit the shan...:shifan:
I'm not so sure it's sunk in yet, but in this month....it's a drop in the bucket and difficult even for me to fully process...everyone's happy (for the most part) and healthy, so really I/we can't and don't complain:thumb:

I'm alive and posting, so the world must still be turning, I don't want to get started on it and nobody wants to hear it, but without last nights catastrophe, it's been a really shitty month.

To top it off, I can't even say the piston gave out last night cuz I was screwin off, i had just merged onto the freeway, there was a constant and steady flow of traffic but it was moving well and I was able to make it clear to the carpool lane and settle off @ 65mph, about 30 seconds later, out of nowhere, I feel a little shake in the seat and it looks like spy hunter in my mirrors, full on smoke screen mode behind the truck....

:eek::eek::eek:
:toilet_claw:
:dontknow:
:help:

No oil in the overflow or water in the oil...Tons of oil in the tailpipe....Towed er home and here I am...

So you can poke fun and beat me up, I expect it, and deserve it

.........
Now what.... should "I" attempt to pull my own engine, or should I take it somewhere....budget build or go for the gusto...try to build it myself.no....no...:spit:

Now I'm wondering who had the betting pool going of how long my engine would last...whoever won should consider donating to my new engine fund:D

Vendors:

Please PM me a quote or contact info, if you'd be interested in taking on building a me a solid foundation to make 850whp with- thanks- Jason

And let the journey continue....

Sorry to hear about your luck, that would make me sick! I would have someone take a good look at that tuning that's for sure...
That aside if you had the money i'd say take it to danville and let them do everything including a S483 over the 72 ;) . Next option would be you pull it and take the heads off and ship the short block to somebody reputable. There are other cheaper options but it all depends how hard you are going to run it and how much power you want to make.

OHHH BUMMER, Still want to tell me to run that 72 MM turbo now? that sucks man but atleast you get to build the motor. Like I said I'd rather have a built motor ready to drop in then burn one down and then start building.

I know you have your goals n all....but fwiw, cuz I just got mine on, I think you'd be pretty happy with the 72 on a stock bottom end...:)

IMHO
The vgt 72 FUGGIN RIPS!
It's working well with 60's on a stock pump and factory build, so far ;)
:D

I'm impressed with it, it's actually just enough to keep me satisfied at a point of not really wanting more (of course, I do...), the power this set up makes is hardly streetable on wet roads and requires the #2 tune to keep the wheels planted, where I live there's not allot of "open space" so there's rarely enough room to open it up all the way, anymore....

I can see wanting to build the engine, don't we all want to! Set up properly, I really feel like the vgt72 is versatile enough to meet the needs of someone looking to build up, and is "fun" enough to make the "waiting" for more, easier:)

Good luck with the sale:thumb:

Possibly...I've had these injectors in for less than 1000miles, if one of them is spraying improperly and ate away at the piston, creating a weak point or burning/cutting straight thru the piston top, I'd hardly fault the turbo for that

All I was saying with that post, is the VGT72 turbo was better than the standard vvt4094 on the stock bottom end as far as responsiveness, which I ran the vvt4094 for about 20k miles with stock injectors, on max effort built trans tuning, so that has to be taken into account as well, and although I maintain them to the highest standard and use quality parts and upgrades, I'm terribly hard on my vehicles

There's many who've run more power and been fine, and many who've run less and failed, so, as we all know, there's a little luck involved ;)

That's whose tunes I was running when mine cracked a piston on the highway with the cruise on. :roflmao:

Sucks you blew it up before you got to beat on it or get any track times. Now its time to sell that shiny new vvt and get a real turbo on that truck!!!

And very true about the wife. They usually wont leave you or even act mad. They know it will be leverage for years to come. :D

I have no wife. I've just had enough experience with females thus far to understand they are brutal.

Did nick make you a quick tune for the 60 overs or did you run the tune you had before?

They can be as brutal as they are sweet, that's if you're lucky too:rofl:

Mine is awesome:D

Yes, and yes...

I ran the 60's on an optimized stock tune with the vvt4094 for about 500mi, then had DT set me up with tunes for the VGT72 and 60's on the stock pump, and that lasted about 300 miles:baby:

Sorry to here about the engine Jason. Hope you get the build you want and all goes well. Could have been worse, could have windows in your block lol

Hmmm, you too? I was cruising on the hwy as well...I wish I had a chance to see what it was making, but it is what it is...

I am a little sick to my stomach over it, but it doesn't change or help, so I'm trying to stay positive about the opportunity to build the engine. I'm not going to make any assumptions about anything until the engine get tore down but checking the tuning out is a good idea.

I don't "have" the money, so to speak, so going to Danville isn't really a possibility, especially with a twin turbo build as a goal, as much as I wish it was:rolleyes:

With that being said tho, I'm not of a "budget conscious" build theory...

I've got a few quotes today that are pretty consistent to what I had found before, as of right now I'm pretty sure the truck will be heading to see Rob and Dustin at Adrenaline Truck Performance and plan on talking to Dustin again before the end of the day.

Thanks Kyle, I'm pretty glad it seems to be a "simple" failure and I'm pretty sure the block is still a good core :) no windows anyways...;)
ATP should set me up pretty well:thumb:

VGT FtMFW, lol

Sorry to hear your truck is down. Good luck with the build though it should be fun! :thumb:

Thanks man...I'm not doin chit tho:eek:

I'm letting ATP have all the fun, as for me, I'll be having fun the next time I fire it up...:D

So, it's been arranged...
ATP will get the truck in a few weeks and drop in a shiny new and clean built engine. Thanks again for your time today Dustin, we will talk again soon:hug:
