Wow. Pretty impressive the way C3 apply piston was installed. I dont even know how its possible to tear it that badly.

Dustin just out of curiosity what were the thicknesses of the C3 and C4 apply plates and backing plates in this trans??

How thick was the C1 backing plate? Was it .400"?

I've actually seen two come from the factory tore like this.

The C1 top plate is .390", which was giving .140" clearance - .025" looser than SC's recommended loosest.

The C4 plate was .400" measured at the snap ring area. I was able to get my clearances right in the C3s with the plate that it had - just had to check to make sure it was still true with how the clutches were warped but don't recall the thickness. The only way I can figure to rip a C3 piston like that would be to stick one side all the way in then force the other side the lip catches and gets folded back.

Slander is when you say things that hurt a company that are false.

You posted facts, matter of fact, you customer now has plenty of evidence to sue the shop based on professional witness. I wouldn't put it back together just yet, I'd file suite for initial labor, and then cost of repair. The original builder has no problem jumping in and saying how he feels rather than make things "right" so now you have legal option here.

Also I'd post no further on the net, and just go straight to civil.

Dont forget to print his posts on DP, before he edits them, they can be used in your case.

E-suing, is like e-thugging...just text lol. Thats why I wouldnt post more, and move actually move forward in civil.

He hasn't posted on DP, he called the shop the conversation went something like:
you need to take that slander off the internet
what slander
your post on DP
it's not slander, it's just what I found upon teardown of the transmission you built
take it down or I'll get my lawyer involved
over what, it's not slander if it's true, what part isn't true?
expect a Sheriff Deputy to serve you papers by this afternoon

Of course no papers were served to me - I was there till 8 waiting (working), maybe tomorrow...

I'll leave the civil suit up to the customer, if he wants to go after Per4mance Innovations he can - I'll testify to what I found in the transmission if he needs me to. The trans is back in, I'm just waiting on a separator plate from Allison to get the valve body back in it. I don't have a dog in the fight as far as a civil suit between the 2 of them.

Yea thats understandable. The customer should know he has a case.

Ahaha, Im sure his attorney jumps on his command, builds a case, files paperwork, and has someone serve it in less than 1/2 a day :roflmao:

Guy is full of shit.

I'm letting this thread stand because it's an important "public service" announcement for the hotrodders here.

However, what I don't want is a lot of is "vendor A says vendor B sucks". That causes way more problems than it cures.

In the future, it's best for the actual enduser to post about negative experiences.

I'm not making a rule about this, and it will be decided on a case-by-case basis, but think about the correct way to present such data, and use good judgement. There is no guarantee that such threads will always be permitted.

Good idea on your part as a disclaimer.

Do you guys think this is the only complaint against this company? This guy aint no virgin. Do a search and find out what the name of his last company was. Wonder what name his new company will be?
