Carrillos here!

we have installed/sold MANY sets and not one issue to be confirmed.

Good talking with u today dan. Thanks for helping us out.

Might have to get a set of carillos from you if this other set falls thru as it is the only thing my motor builder doesn't have.

anybody that thinks that dsp5 tunes and tow tune and bla bla bla ruin transmissions need one simple thing, a new TUNER! my truck ranges from ~600hp on the smallest tune to around 1000 on the third tune and probably 1200+ on the biggest( especially with the new triples) and my trans doesnt flare, doesnt shift funny, bang gears, or any other of the funky shit that people talk about. when i went 10.7 last year(htt over gt47), i had ran it in that tune 1 time only before that time. shifts were seemless and smooth all the way down the track. everybody needs to quit blaming the switches and start looking at the root of the problem. :thumb:

LOL thats fine josh but like i said, my truck doesnt work that way :thumb:

At what point are people deciding to upgrade the stock cam and would it help with spool up on a DD?

(General grouping of cam grinds)

I ran SoCal's 6460 cam with their upgraded valve springs and steel retainers in my motor. I can't say for sure how much of a difference the cam made because I changed so many things. It power and driveability, spooled good, and ran lower boost than several other similar setups I've heard of with stock cams. I still had stock head castings.

I'm in the same boat changed too much at once, but when dunbar dyno'd my truck he couldn't believe how fast the chargers lit. He actually dumped out of it cuz he thought it broke lol. Mine was a custom grind by bullet cams

Sorry perhaps start a new thread I'm intrigued about the individuals that can switch from a tow tune to a kill tune and completely do away with the relearn process of the Allison. I see the common denominator that we are talking about is that more than likely 01 TCM calibrations that have no fast learn process.

Maybe I gotta kiss and make up with Tony! I'm sure I'm on his shit list! :roflmao: :roflmao:

Most of the issues that arise with shift quality and DSP position come from two things: Incorrect tuning and a driver that likes to do a few burn outs. Mine shifts great in any position but if i spin my tires playing around the next set of shifts will be off. It's all in the tuning though.

22,000 mi on the built engine and cracked a cut and coated piston with the 900hp tune. Not impressed at all. If the cylinder wall is damaged, I will be replacing the pistons with forged ones. I blame the injectors, won't mention the shop they're from but when its confirmed with flow testing that they are bad I will.

X2 had same issue with an LLy this summer, about 12,000 on cut and coated pistons. Injectors, checked good though.

Can someone explain why a forged piston is hard on rings? Is it the thermal characteristics?
