Alright great thanks Anthony...I will keep the nitrous solenoid trigger on there...the only thing I think im still going to get rid of is boost-monitoring. Between RPM monitoring, throttle %, and current gear, IMO thats all you need to get a good automatic converter lockup setup/tuning.

I would get rid of the boost monitoring also. It gets annoying when half throttle it locks up, boost falls because of lookup, than it unlocks... relocks after boost comes up from the free converter than locks and boost falls again and keeps going like that. Not that I have the bt controller though but I'm sure you see the same troubles.

Glad to see the positive feedback from the 2nd generation lockup controller coming in!!

thanks again for all of the orders so far guys, it helps keep the R&D moving along for even more improvements in the future. :thumb:

What parameters are you watching to determine when the nitrous turns on?

I thought it wasn't supposed to lockup until the accelerator pedal was all the way to the floor?

You maybe correct, thats why I stated that I do not have the BT controller. Just something I have noticed from the competition.

Just wanted to update this. After hours of designing/testing/coding/etc I now have the RPM monitoring feature working "on the test bench". Its not quite ready to implement into the production lockup controllers yet, but I just wanted to give an update and prove that it is very close, and I havent forgotten about it.

Also wanted to show how it works properly, and ive designed the circuit/written the software properly so there is no erratic operation of the factory tach/cluster, and no check engine light/codes. :)

"w2" on the laptop screen is the RPM value as being reported by the lockup controller's CPU in real-time. It is accurate +/-10rpm. The reason it looks like its slow on the laptop screen is simply because the databus that my lockup controller talks on is kinda slow.

Quick question for the sled pullers...are you guys going to want/use the RPM-based automatic unlock feature? IE, when the engine starts to lug down below 2500rpm (for example), would you want the lockup controller to be able to automatically unlock the converter? Or would you rather just control the "force unlock" manually?

Just wondering if this RPM-monitoring feature really has any merit/use and if I should even go forward with implementing it? As far as automatic lockup IMO its not all that necessary because I already monitor current gear (to make sure you are in 2nd gear or higher) and throttle position (want the converter to force-lock only when you go 100% throttle)...

So really...RPM monitoring isnt that relevant to controlling converter lockup, unless the sled-puller guys really want automatic unlock capability at the end of the pull when the engine starts to bog down.

However, the RPM input could still be useful for triggering nitrous/water-meth I guess...?

Im open to ideas, if people still really want RPM-monitoring etc...

Ben,

Wondering if you had a chance to send my lockup controller out yet? thanks

Brad

hey Brad- Im really sorry, I found a couple bugs that Im working day and night to figure out, I didnt want to send you one that would potentially have a glitch. If you want, I can temporarily refund the purchase, and then as soon as its fixed, Ill send you another one. Hopefully by the end of the day today Ill have everything nailed down.
