So how is everyone getting these retarded torqx head bolt out of the rear calipers? I threw the ones on my LLY away the first change.

I've used a sledge hammer and a 1/2 impact, a 1/2 breaker bar, I snapped my adapter, and now I'm going to heat them and beat a Allen wrench in and use a hammer on them. I'm fixing to get pissed off.

Heat. Or just pull it off with the bracket attached and slide it over the rotor with the pads inside and leave them be.

You shouldn't have to stand on the pedal for it to stop. After this brake job this mother****er can go down the road. I've broke 300 bucks worth of shit and still don't have the driver side off and it's not even rusted.

Mine won't lock up, on a good day if you smash the pedal the backs try to.

I bet it's your master cylinder. My truck had the same problem. It was sending more pressure to the back it seemed like. The rear end would try to hop. I thought it was my shocks at first. I changed the master and now it stops great again.

I don't get why everyone is unhappy with their brakes. They work great, I just struggle with heat.

I agree, but some people just can't be pleased. My dads 97 F250 boiled the brake fluid and glazed over the breaks when it was only a few years old. That was after our trailer brakes went out and we got pushed through a stop sign with 12,000 behind it. The way my LBZ stops from 100+ is impressive for stock. My 08 6.0 stops its 8500lbs every day great considering Im an aggressive driver. I just put a 5000lb trailer behind it yesterday and again it stopped so good I found myself racing around more then I should have. Its not some well maintained truck. Its a beat ass work truck with stock breaks and 130K on them.

Our brakes are as good if not better then any of the big 3. I hate to say it, but ive lost trailer brakes on almost every work truck Ive had. Its not fun having 26000lb start pushing you around. The only truck I didnt pull over right away and fix them was my F450.

I can be pleased, I'm not that picky, but these brakes compared to the new trucks is night and day, I'll finish my brakes and see how it goes.

I drove a 2011 and the brakes felt much better. The size of the rotor or caliper didn't increase much from what I can tell. The booster is known to work better. I'm in the process of getting the larger master to work.

Moved into Chassis and Suspension with all the other brake threads.

Ever think that maybe you have a sticking caliper, or maybe need to do brake maintenance more often? Not saying you dont, so dont anyone freak out.... but winter really messes brakes up.

You can replace the POS torx caliper pins with regular ones. I believe Dorman sells them.

This is just my 2 cents from what I've done. I put the tow kit from power stop on my truck with a new master and braided lines. The pads from kit are carbon ceramic. Rotors are drilled and slotted. I touch the pedal and can feel the bite. My truck has 33's on 20x10 wheels so that's my only weight addition.

But I agree with what also has been said about flushing brake fluid and power steering fluid. That made a difference for me when running setup prior to replacement parts.

I put drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads on my lmm. Made a huge difference. I also flushed the fluid. I got them from 1a auto. Like 300$ for front and rear. They were good quality and no issues. Since then we put them on our f250 6.7 p stroke and honda accord with no issues. All stop better then before and the price was awesome.

Have any pictures? I'd be interested in this. What are the differences?

Alright, I got a nap (working nights full time again)
Tom, no rust, no corrosion, brakes on inside were junk, outer pad had a 1/3 left, front brakes are 1/2 outer and 1/3 inner. Everything worked freely as I've had it all apart other than the rear calipers.

Temporary- put wearever silvers on rear and scuffed up rotors- puts you in the dash. Been getting behind getting the house ready for the baby and truck shit is been last minute and aggravating.

Ordering for next days off- ac delco slotted rotors from Danville front and rear, some sort of severe duty brakes(the ones gmduramax mentioned), fluid flush, and some white man bolts for rear calipers.

Also pulled the driveshaft and greased the yoke, amazing what that does. The yoke was full of oil and was still sticking, makes no sense but the grease worked again.

So hopefully I can tackle this stuff my first day off and not my last so I can clean, paint, and touch up everything winter has undone.

I cracked a slotted rotor. Wont ever waste money on those again. I saw no difference in stopping. Brake fade was better though. Do you have stainless braided lines? That changed my pedal more than anything. Hawk makes a nice severe duty pad for our trucks. Keep your eye on the calipers. I've replaced all of mine twice in the last 5 years.

I cannot find a 2010 or older that doesn't need multiple calipers anymore. It's amazing the difference in brake 'feel' from truck to truck in that generation. And for different reasons per truck.
