Blocking your intake resonator?

I've personally never really seen a reason to block it, but I know a lot of guys do it. If you do and you use one of those expansion/test plugs that has a cairrage bolt with a wing nut or something similar, make sure the nut stays tight. Also, it would probably be a good idea to use one that has metal ends instead of plastic. I just saw this a couple of days ago.

The plug I found had a metal washer that was too big for the resonator to fit back on the truck. I ground the washer down but it still will not fit down the hole. And it is a tight fit.

As for the bolt, It is drilled and has a safety pin in it so it cannot drop into the intake.

Also when I blocked the PCV, did the same thing, drilled and installed safety pin.

That's a good idea on the safety pin. I'm not sure if anyone else sells them, but Alligator sells a billet plug with an O-ring seal for both the resonator and PCV.

Why not use a 2" rubber cap? No way for anything to fall in and it fits perfect.

I removed mine for access, I don't think there is any performance gain at all.

X2 on the rubber cap. Worked great for me also. Did a few friends that way to. No issues. Took mine off now cause of the mpi twins I'm installing this week. but would use the cap again for sure.

I have never seen one crack. Not saying it can't happen, but I can't believe it's all that common.

Think its more of a first generation engine issue, plus there might be something in the air here...LOL! There are 2 i know of here locally in my dinky town, and a few ive read about online. I think its prety cheap insurance, provided you do it right.

use a fernco cap style not a plug. its much much safer.

Use the larger plug out of a 55 gallon drum. It's free, can't fall out, and fits perfectly.
