i used to work at a gm dealer and had an lb7 come in with one of the worst knocks ive heard, not just a tick, like something was beating the hell outta something else. like everybody else said started turning injectors off one by one cut #6 and it stopped, changed injectors and ran good as new

Maybe try moving injectors and see if when you shut off the injectors one at a time if it follows the injectors or stays in the same hole.

I had one that sounded like a fuel knock and ended up missing a piece of the piston skirt. It had cracked and fell completely off. Truck had 150K on it and was an LB7

yeah but im leaning more towards what everyone is saying as far as it would make the sound all the time, my noise quits when you turn the #7 injector off. im going first thing this morning to get a compression tester.

I didn't even think of it with how you described it but I had a leak past an injector that was bad enough I could hear it all the time. Sounded horrible and I thought something was mechanically wrong at first. Pulled the injector out replaced the copper and the o-ring, stuck it back in and all was good.

I am thinking it is something around these lines as he is also getting some fuel in his oil
