yeah i know borrowed time for sure. all i know is my tow tune will probably get a lot direv time then the big tune.:)

ive had the twins on my truck since june last year, and i have 400-410 psi compression on all cylinders(checked after the nc trip) i usually drove on a 400hp tune BUT USED THE 500HP TUNE ALOT, but towed over 10k with tony's 500hp tune down to taylorsville, nc on rt 77 haulin azz sometimes at 80mph or more. ive flogged the truck alot before the twins, I ALSO HAD THE TRUCK UP TO 145 MPH WITH NO TWINS AND THE PYRO BURIED( 35" TOYO MT TIRES WILL LET YOU DO THAT kind of speed) . but common sense will be the factor on how much borrowed time you have left.

alright update, travis and i changed number 7 injector yesterday and no luck. still very loud rattling. alot worse when we put the twins back on and big tune. im going bakc to the drawing board and thinking its in the regulator. but while we were in there, all the injectors were dirty. im trying to figure out why in the hell do i have 2 fuel filters that dont work that get changed way more then normal people would. oh well, im going to run a crap lload of diesel treatment through it and see if that helps. also i think maybe b1010 needs to be adjusted some more or maybe the lift pump? what do you guys think?

Cylinder pressures change with tunes. I'm just throwing it out there. I had a motor not a dmax but one that I couldn't isolate were the noise was comming from and it ended up being a bad wrist pin. Just an idea.

yeah i know cylinder pressures are a lot higher with a bigger tune but the noise changes at idle with the tunes, you dont even have to drive it. i would think at idle they shoudl be about the same.

What do you mean the injectors were dirty? If your talking about little chunks of rust in the inlet of the injector, that is normal and occurs when you remove the lines. I hope you cleaned out all that crap before you put it back together. If not, you may have a couple more junk injectors now.

Yes we cleaned the injectors, lines and everything. Unfortunately this isnt the first time working on one of these pieces.

Have you checked to make sure the reluctor wheel has not come loose? Does it sound like one cylinder rattling or all of them?

Flexplate Cracked?

Also, maybe compare your tunes and look at the fueling in the idle area's. See if there are any changes that could cause the cyl press to change.

thats what i originally thought, but then we changed our minds and thought injector. but its not that. i guess next im going to change the modded regulator back to stock and see if that fixes it, i dont think think it will but its free all but time. if thats not it i guess well start looking elsewhere other then the fueling.

It doubt it is the FPR. Unless your RP is all over the place at idle.

Or maybe Travis is right............JK:D

Dale this noise sounds too much like a fuel knock, I have heard alot of fuel knocks over the years but I just cant put my finger on this one:(

something to think about ... i have noticed since i twinned my truck it seems to be alot more timming sensitive as far as fuel or pressure knocking , wether this is from a similar internal problem as your dealing with it very well could be but i tunned mine out... with the 50/50 timming calculator timming tables for excell that josh wrote work perfect , but using like the 20/20 tow tune method of using the A timming table for a tow tune knocked under part throttle and 2200 rpm , never did before . wondering if my MAF voltage table still isnt quite right . might check the same thing . probably a long shot but ? but as stated i could have hurt my motor al ready , but under boost i have never heard it no matter what the timming being used .

This noise is the same way, stock tune its not so loud, big tune really loud, over 50% throttle cant hear anything:confused:

i would check the timming tables i reallt think the MAF works diff once the trucks are twinned , maybe give rob a call for some advice . who is tuning his truck . i can give you call if you want go over what is in the tune and what/were i pulled timming ?

Nick@dmaxtuner made the base tune and he has been tweaking it from there
