Ok I always hear "what does Team Salad mean, or Where did that come from?"

I have heard the story but maybe Pat can enlighten some about it. The way I heard it, it was old skool and it had to do with "soup" :D hence the "no soup for you chat??"

So...Do Tell....:D

A long time there was a tuner from Compton California who would charge folk $1295 for a locked tune, and take 6 months or more to send the tune.

If you did not like his service, or questioned him publically or privately, you would not get your tune.

If you were waiting for this tune, you were said to be waiting in the Soup Line, and the guy who was doing this tuning was referred to as the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld.

Then along came PPE, then EFILive, which made waiting in a soup line obsolete. If you ran fast and weren't running the Soup, you were part of Team Salad. ie - "Soup or Salad? I'll have the salad please."

:hello:

I remember looking through old threads on the dp a while ago and I found a picture of steve cole and pat smiling together in the same picture

There was a time when the whole Dmax community in California was one group.

Mike L, Guy Tripp, Steve Cole, Nick D, Doug Lindsey, Me, John@DPS, Joe&Dan at PPE, etc.

I was a beta tester for TTS at one time. But when I started to test other tunes other than TTS, I became persona non grata.

Cole never did release a LLY race tune. Last tune I tested for him was ~375rwhp IIRC. It was never made public. I had Cole flash the ECM back to stock when he would not release it to the public.

Moonshine Tony Martino was the first to use no soup for you on DP. This goes back to when Tony, Guy and I were still friends with Steve.

No he wasn't. Sdaver and I came up with it, even put a clip from the show up on DP. You guys were all still together of course......and I believe I may have been the only outcast at the time.....publicly. Dave wasn't, but he always liked mixing the pot a bit.....again, it all goes back before people got real uptight behind a keyboard.

Kennedy and Dmaxallitech used to use the Kool-Aid phrase......pass the Kool-Aid.

Even remember slapping Guy a few times...who knew I'd have to kiss his ass today though.:p

At one time, TTS tuning was the best out there. I had raced against TTS LB7 trucks, and it was apparent back then, that ECM-Only tuning was the correct answer.

Cole did not invent ECM tuning, far from it. He was just the first to come up with a ECM-Only Duramax Diesel LB7 tune that could run with the stacks.

It wasn't easy for Steve Cole to alienate all hotrodder in SoCal. Most of us are actually pretty tolerant, and stubbornly loyal.

Here's the truth though. If Cole needed help at the track, I (and most my friends) would give him the shirt off our backs. That's our code. But trust me, he would not reciprocate. Not in his character.

You're right George. Remember I'm old with a failing memory. :D

Pat
I was there helping you when you installed the slicks on Steve's truck at the track with your floor jack and your impact wrench. You also reinstalled his street tires after he raced and he never even acknowledged you. Kinda of a slap in the face. He wouldn't even talk to you.
George
You were responsible for getting Steve the first LLY in the country in '03 only to have the screws put to you by him. I won't go into that. Many more stories like this that caused me to dump his ass. Should have listened to my wife back in 1980. She could not stand him way back then.
