Alright I have searched high and low for information on a bed mount cooler, and how efficient they are compared to a stock cooler. If you have one, or have experience with one would you please post your input on what you would do differently, how you did it, what cooler and lines you used, how you hooked it all together, and more specifically the sizes of the connections and lines to make things easier for me to order parts.

I was thinking of trying out one of mishimitos heavy duty trans coolers

http://www.mishimoto.com/heavy-duty-transmission-cooler-kit-electric-fan.html

OR tying two of their standard trans coolers together in series if that would give better performance.

what do you think...

thanks,
Caden

Looks like a PS. You better hard line this set up. Pressures are known to spike 200 psi which will blow any hose clamp off. If you run higher pressures the problem will get worse.

I've got one, it is using hydraulic hose and had an fan. I never put it in, but my trans still runs around 200 and uses both cooler up front as well. The only thing I am worried about is not be able to the radiator to heat up the tranny fluid up in the wintertime

Mine has a steel guard that is level with the wheel well, you still can use the truck bed, so it has good sir glow, but it needs a better flowing cooler back there.

Put a switch on the fan and override it in winter.:D

It has a thermostat on it but I think the cooler is restricting being 3/8 so it turns on and off all the time. Not effective or efficient. Is it a bad thing to colder fluid in it? That's the only reason I haven't removed the front ones because of warming the fluid up when it is -0.

The reason I want this setup is mainly so I can have a fan on my trans cooler so I can get air flowing through at the pits when hot lapping. Ever since this s475 my trans is much much hotter (200*+). I thought the mishimoto coolers were good quality, I was wrong. Any other ideas out there? I'm okay running on in the stock location as well I just figured it would be better in the bed away from the cooling stack for less condensed heat.

Tomorrow we shall see how the stock cooler does with a little brake cleaner sprayed on after a pass.

You may want a bigger cooler. This cooler that is in the back of my truck is the same as the one you posted. It is not big enough to be used as a single cooler and too small OD to flow the fluid fast enough.

All I'm looking for at this point is a cooler that is within the same price range that Mike approves of :D main thing I'm worried about it bringing my trans temp down while hot lapping at the track.

That's not a bad idea. I've tried using a weed sprayer with water out of my cooler but water drips & I have to get it to dry before I stage again. I'll try brake cleaner this weekend too.
